Anyone use high clearance crash bar kit?

Hey there friends. Bronco noob here, will have my first one. I think i've decided for my BB i'm going to go with 33s/no lift. The wheels I want to get may have slight poke and I hear that will just barely interfere with the rear crash bars. Probably not a huge deal, but I was just wondering if anyone has used any of the after market high clearance crash bars that allow for the extra space. Good idea? Good quality?

Also, another noob question ... If Im going with new wheels/tires do the sensors from the stock wheels get transferred over... or how does that work? Do I need to buy/calibrate new sensors? Thanks for taking the time. Feel free to meme me to death.

Same as the two above. I never replaced mine with an aftermarket option but Icon and 4WP sells them (and maybe a few others by now). It’s up to you to decide if it’s “needed” for safety or not. I’ve yet to see a legitimate explanation why the SAS broncos don’t get crash bars or if they have any additional reinforcement elsewhere that compensates for it in the event of a crash.

As for your sensor question, you can absolutely transfer your TPMS sensors to the new tires. Discount Tire did mine for me when I bought wheels and tires from them.

Absolutely agree here. A lot of guys are cavalier about removing them but they were put there for a reason by Ford. If it were me I’d like be considering one of the aftermarket options OR find out why a Sasquatch Bronco doesn’t need them. Certainly up to the individual owner though.

When you see the offset crash video of the Jeep Wrangler, you get why you'd want to block the wheel and tire from being another projectile flying at your face in the event of a crash.

HOWEVER, this is not to say that is a common scenario. I don't have a lot of experience with Jeeps, Broncos, and the like in crashes where the wheel becomes a deadly problem.

Legally, we should probably all say, "keep everything factory for safety and stuff." Personally, I will probably get the JKS high clearance kit and may or may not use it. The bars are to stop the wheel from being a risk factor in a crash. Wheel and tire maintenance are a huge factor in performance and safety as they always have been--people overlook that and that's how silly safety measures are born.

It would appear those that have replied are only talking about removing the crash bar extensions, of which are NOT installed on the SAS pkg. Two different things.

If you are running anything 35" or below no need to cut off the frame mounts, just unbolt the extensions and remove. Also, I highly doubt with 33" anything will need to be removed.

Yeah, I'm referring to the extension bars that bolt into the mounts, not the mount itself. ICON's kit is a set of bars that bolt into the already existing mount in place of the stock bars. They are just shaped in a way that allow for more room for tires apparently. And Ill check to see what happens at full lock before hand, but I was reading a post where someone tested it that even with 33s if you have a certain offset it will still hit the rear bars. And I think the wheel I was looking at fell into that same offset. And I don't like messing with safety stuff which is why I even started to consider this.

I opted to install Icon High Clearance crash bars on my factory Sasquatch. These are really easy to install and do have plenty of clearance for the 35s. You would need to purchase bolts if you currently don't have crash bars installed. I assume you already have the mounting bolts so not needed for your scenario.

Not here for a crash bar pro or con debate buuuuuut that little thing looks like something some lawyer cooked up to satisfy a “I still have crash bars” argument… zero chance that serves to protect in the event of a meaningful impact.

I have them too for peace of mind. I would feel bad if my wife gets hurt in an accident and I didn’t do the most that I can to prevent or reduce the injury. Besides, it’s only $150. If I never use them or they don’t work, it’s not that big of a deal. I have lights installed on my bronco that cost more and I never use them.
The back bars are puny but any bigger they would rub with 35”+ tires. The front ones are beefier. The crash bars working together with the rest of collision system should provide more front crash protection than without them.
