I was eyeballing some perch collars and saw these...

Why can they have a collar that is split but normal HOSS 1 cannot?

Seems like these could be installed without having to take much apart.
First off, even the split collars require quite a lot of work. Secondly there are perch collars for lower HOSS levels but it requires full disassembly of the strut. There’s a few good YouTube videos that demonstrate this. Most importantly none of these are easy, fast, or simple. But hey that’s suspension work for ya… theres no free lunch.

The cheapest, fastest install on a HOSS 1.0 will likely be one of the many top spacer kits. And not for nothin but it’s a HOSS 1 so basically pretty low grade parts and pieces. You should seriously consider a full replacement or at a minimum springs.

Good luck.

I would look at an adjustable shock so you can adjust 5 different levels of what you want and just scrap the 1.0. Icon or Bilstein 6100. Much better than 1.0 and SAS. I run 6100s and would never go back to my yellow SAS.

Yeah...i was just hoping it would be easy to put some spring compressors on, just to get a little bit of play in order to clamp something on and never having to actually disassemble everything.

I'm happy with my stock suspension, just wanted to get about 1.5-2" more preload.
