I'm looking for more brush guards like this one. I have the base bumper so mounting to the top won't work. This mounts to the front of the frame where the tow hooks would go.

In the FJ Cruiser world these brush guards are known as damage multipliers. They're inexpensive and "rugged looking" but are flimsy. In even a minor collision, they often take out grilles, hoods, headlamps, fenders, that would have otherwise been left untouched.

I can't help with cheapo add ons, but if you like this style and want a real bumper, check out the

I like ARB's lighting and recovery products, but I don't care for the styling of their bumpers. Expedition One on the other hand does a phenomenal job with theirs. I highly recommend them.

I don't really like the style of those bumpers either. It's mostly for deer in my area, but maybe I will just wait until I can find modular bumper in my area

Fair enough on the styling, that's always subjective. These are just the only two with a similar style I'm familiar with offhand. I can all but assure you though that a brush guard will do nothing (or worse, cause more damage) in the case of a deer strike. If that's your concern, I'd definitely look into an aftermarket. Even the OEM steel (Modular Bumper, right?) bumper won't provide any protection for a strike in the grille or hood area.

Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in here soon.

Edit: added two aftermarket bumper threads

If you’re gonna possibly change bumpers a Capable bumper might be less expensive.
AIG Offroad has this brush guard for it.

The capable bumper wouldn't be too bad. Most of them in my area are either selling too expensive or they are incomplete. I'm going to look over the next couple of months as I plan the rest of my build

This is the Aries version on the capable bumper. Installation was pretty straightforward, brush guard is very sturdy and well built, just wanted to share.

There are deals out there. Many on Ebay too.

I found my Capable bumper on Facebook marketplace for $300. I drove 3 hrs to get it since shipping would be too much. I put a DV8 bull bar on it to mount a light bar.

I agree with @BobbySaggz. Brush guards are just that....they push forgiving branches out of the way of your plastic grill and headlights. If you're looking for protection for plowing through a 125 pound deer at 45 mph, a bolted on guard is just going to bend back in to the truck and do its own damage. ARB on the other hand is the real deal. I had one on my Tacoma. It's all welded into the bumper structure and stout as all get out. ARB stands for Australian Roo Bar....it's build to plow through Joey's.....we have deer collisions, they have Kangaroo collisions.
