Any downside to buying mods early?

I waited 2 years…2 weeks…and 2 days for my 22 OBX. I had collected 26 boxes of accessories by the time I got my Bronco. When I got home from the dealership I parked it in my shop for 5 days until all boxes were empty. That 5 days was the most fun I had in a long time…making my Bronco be my Bronco…do you know what I mean. Just keep buying what you want.

I’ve got a small collection of mods, nothing serious except the dual compressor that KR will installing for me. The Bronco paraphernalia from Ford is sitting in a box. I won’t wear any Bronco gear until it’s in my driveway .

I have a few as well. I was concerned about warranty starting once you buy mods, but I did learn the tire warranty begins with mileage so that’s delayed. Buying early runs risk of price changing but could benefit you as well. Newer “better” item could show up. Your preferred choice could become discontinued and I’d be bummed if my wheel choice disappeared. I’d say go for it and enjoy the anticipation.

I will add that working on a brand new bronco with no dirt was nice. Original stuff came off easy and new went on easily.

I had a huge pile of bronco parts waiting on a bronco, about 6k+ worth, biggest chunk of that being wheels/tires, and was able to get $2250 of that back selling my takeoffs. I started buying shit right after the bronco was loaded on the train. The bronco parts of course beat the bronco by several weeks.

I took advantage of black Friday sales on Amazon and Ford Accessories and picked up some mods, but don’t have my Bronco yet (or any idea when I will get). Nothing major, just floor/cargo mats, hood struts, door sill guards and trail armor. I figured Ford would have to make major changes to the MY23 vehicle for these items to be affected. I stayed away from anything electronic since I wouldn’t be able to install and test for issues.

But before I go any further, anyone see any downside to buying early?

Only issues I had (and why I didn't buy anything) were storage room and wanting to buy stuff I needed.

After 14,000 miles, I knew what I definitely needed to continue to do what I wanted and what I am still on the fence about.

Well maybe a couple of things. What if I. The event you are not able to buy the vehicle for whatever reason? For example your dealer pulls a quick one and your are not able to get the deal you want or the vehicle gets damaged beyond repair during shipping. Another thing, possibly by the time you get the vehicle there may be some new aftermarket parts you want but you already bought something that you don’t like as much. Details, minor details.

I didn't buy squat in advance. Numerous reasons.

• Deal may have fell through due to dealer markup or unforseen circumstances
• Life happens and situations change within a year or more
• Parts may be defective and not discovered until you try to install. Then there is no returning
• Something better might come out

That's just me.

This about sums it up. I also agree with the guys that mentioned new improved versions coming out.

I would have walked away had I not bought up a lot of mods.
Time will tell if it was worth it.

I have been very tempted to purchase numerous items, however, have refrained from all but one. I purchased a Warn Evo 12s off Amazon that I couldn't pass up ($688). If the deal on my Bronco falls through for any reason (ADM, damage in transit, etc.) I will mount it on my 1994 Bronco. I do have 20 bookmarked sites for accessories I would like to buy and have missed deals on them, however, that list has been modified over the last 1.5 years and something new may come out I like better. I'll just be patient, make sure I get the Bronco, enjoy it as much I think I will, then wait for a deal I can't refuse to get my goodies. It would be nice to have all of my accessories ready and waiting for the Broncos arrival but I just can't pull the trigger on $10k worth of items I can't return.
