Sorry if this is posted else where, I just found this forum.

I just put in my reservation for a BadLands 4door at Athens Ford in Athens, Georgia. The guy at the dealership asked me if I was wanting to put in a reservation for the Bronco Sport? I stated, no, I was wanting the regular Bronco (the good one obviously lol). Anyways, he stated they were all "sold out" in regards to reservation and this means any one who places a reservation now may not be able to build their Bronco until late December or early 2021.

Has anyone else heard this? Can someone provide any clarification, thanks a lot.

Edit: I understand the first edition Broncos were sold out in less than 24 hours.
Unfortunately, you just got ā€œbroomedā€ by a salesman not willing to answer your questions because you weren’t there to buy/test drive a car that day.

if they were ā€œsold out,ā€ he could naturally sell you on the exact same vehicle... the ā€œRanger.ā€ While that’s partially sarcastic, that’s probably what he’d of followed up with to get you to buy that day.

Try a different dealership.

Yeah between both of @BroncoBro posts that's alot of yikes?. I have come to not expect much from most dealerships, but I just cannot understand how a dealer can be so clueless about one of the biggest automotive launches in alot of our lifetimes. Unless like you said it's intentional...

It honestly sounds more like the salesperson has the broncos confused or didn't understand what the OP wanted. If the OP is quoting him properly it sounds like he's saying they have enough reservations for the Bronco SPORT that any placed now isn't likely to be built until 2021, so it'll be "sold out" for the year.

Or he could be talking out his ass, but the average dealer schmuck is very ill informed and if they're working off the cliff notes version of the reveal or what some coworker said in the bathroom they can get details mixed up easily.

They are not clueless, just deceitful, all most of them care about is making a sale TODAY, not next spring, half of them will not even be at the dealer come the end of the year.

Like others have said. Change dealers. They are just trying to get an earlier sale. They have way to much time on their hands if they are contacting you like this.

Change to Akins Ford, that's who I selected. They will have a large volume of broncos and understand what is going on more than anyone else. Mostly likely will have competitive pricing. I've had no contact with them yet. There's no need until the build site is up and running.

Cancel and re-reserve maybe the easiest way.
You will have the option to change dealerships in the future. I wouldn't cancel your current reservation - you risk being further back in line, so to speak.

I honestly wonder how the ā€œordering lineā€ will operate. Is it in the order you reserved? Honestly, I feel all reservations will open to place an order at the same time. I reserved day 2 (site crashed) so I truly hope the ordering process goes in the order reserved but it seems like a nightmare to make it work.

Anything is possible. I worked at a dealership while going through college. Even got promoted to sales. Though this sounds weird, my sales job w/the Smart Car is very similar to this experience w/the launch of the Bronco.

Both were reservation-based orders. Both had a ton of hype for a new vehicle coming to the market, and both were a year+delivery from the ā€œrefundable $100.ā€

Smart car enthusiast would come into the showroom all the time asking boards of questions that no one was privy to on a product not going to be available for a long time. They were nuisances to Salemen w/monthly quotas. A massive waste of their time for a person who would come to the dealership months from then and likely auto-assigned to the next salesman up for a car already with options applied. No tint, no pinstripes, no after-market wheels, etc.

Salesmen don’t exactly have long tenures at specific dealerships. Often times, you’ve met a Ford Salesman that had already worked at a GM, Subaru, maybe even a BMW Dealership. They may have some enthusiasm for the product... but many are just there to deliver someone 10-15 cars/month. They may even broom you if the commission is too low.

I once knew a sales man that was working in selling a Mercedes to an old lady who wanted to buy American. The conversation was both epic and hilarious.

At this point, I think the deck will get reshuffled. When they start contacting customers their turn is here, some will run out the door to their dealer and immediately lock their order in. Others will take days before doing so. Then, the dealer needs to actually enter the order and hopefully not have to deal with the system crashing and slowing the process down. At this point, you could be closer or further away from the front of the line. Also, I haven't seen any confirmation if they'll build by trim level or at random.
