Anyone ran the Mishimotto Air intake for a 2.7L Wildtrack, 2 door, 2023? I looked at the K&N, however am concerned about the open top that is filtered to the intake case housing. Pulling in hot air and contaminates from the blow off valve from inside the engine compartment. (Yes I realize it recycles the air back thru the intercooler after). But my other concern is water when forging deep mud and water ruts. Hence why I went and found the mishimotto. Which closes the top off and leaves the factory intake only. That is until or unless I decide to get the choana's to put on the snorkel and cut into my front right quarter panel from Mishimotto as well and block off the factory intake. Or leave the plug out and double my air intake

Any advise or discussion to help me decide would be grateful

Had the Mishi CAI been available when I upgraded mine I would have gone that route. At the time the Roush CAI was the only game in town. Personally I'd forego the snorkel.

Am a little confused by your statement "concerned about the open top that is filtered to the intake case housing". The Mishi CAI takes outside air just like the stock intake which is from the front of the hood and not from the engine compartment. I don't think keeping the top open was even an option. There's no concern for water ingress unless you are forging water depths greater than the height of that intake. If so, I guess the snorkel is the more viable option.

I ordered the Injen system. The K&N has an open foam insert on it. So hot air and such will enter. The Injen and Mitso have a completely closed box, SANS the cold air tube that runs to the outside.

So the K&N is not a complete close system.

We designed our intake with a removeable window on the top for two primary reasons. First, so we could seamlessly attach our snorkel. Second, so customers can easily check their filter for cleanliness. Although not advisable (pulling hot air from the engine bay is not ideal), someone could leave the lid off. We connect to the front inlet (the OEM one has a clever sand/dirt trap/exit on it) to allow for fresh air to enter.

Based on what you're looking for and to piggyback off of Johns comment above, Mishimoto seems to be your intake. Not too knowledgeable on the Snorkel but the design does look pretty simplistic if you did decide to use one.

Feel free to PM and we'll be glad to assist getting you one!
