As I know, Badlands has some skid plates, but they don't cover some essential parts. What would you suggest adding to that set? Shock plates? I am not going to wheel hardcore, but I am an amateur, so I want to protect essential parts from my potential mistakes.

The shock skid plates are essential imo. One of mine from jcr is actually caved in already (rather that than the shock). I also added control arm skid plates and a muffler skid plate. For mild wheeling the stock badlands ones are fine, just add the shock skids and maybe better rock sliders. I’ve already replaced the sliders also and now the radiator skid. Even my transfer case skid plate has started bending upwards. For repeated hard rock crawling the stock skid plates just won’t hold up. I’ll end up replacing all of them over time.

Thanks. I order the sliders and looking for shock plates too. Probably JCR. Where did you get the other plates (arm and muffler)? Could you please send links?

The control arm skid plates are also from jcr. Muffler skid plate is from asfir 4x4. Actually scraped the muffler skid plate a couple times this weekend for the first time.

Thanks. Do the control arm plates work fine with OEM skids?

What default plates does BL have? I don't have it yet :) But soon.
Badlands models have the following skid plates: engine (bash), transmission, sta-bar disconnect, transfer case, and gas tank.

Not really a transmission plate. Everything under is covered well on Badlands, except the transmission.

Fair enough, TJ.

This is the one I was referring to (B), the second "underbody shield" behind the front underbody shield (or engine "bash plate"), and it shares the two rear mounting bolts of the front underbody shield.

IMO, none of the factory skids are adequate for medium-to-severe duty, which is why I replaced them all with JCR’s skid plate system.

I have heard aluminum plates aren't ideal for rock crawling, but the payload on broncos is already low. Do you think fully covered in aluminum is better or worse than only partially covered in steel?
