I made sure I upgraded to the LUX because once you go Adaptive Cruise Control it’s hard to go back. My Outback has it and it is the greatest thing. However, while still a nice addition to the Bronco, my first outing with it is showing it’s not quite as nice as ACC in the Subaru. Traveling down 287 at 55mph and I set the adaptive cruise. It works as expected in so far is when the van in front of me slowed down to 45 so did my Bronco and when the van sped back up to 55 so did my Bronco. That’s the gist of ACC. However, when the van in front of me came to a stop at a stop light my ACC brought me down to about 7mph and then it just coasted (almost to the point of hitting the van in front of me so I applied the brake). Tried it again and the same thing… at the next stop light it slowed to about 7 and then stopped slowing me down while the van in front of me was at a stop. In my Subaru, it will slow me to a dead stop, hold it until the vehicle in front of me goes, and then automatically speed up to match speed (or whatever we have it set at) without me touching a single pedal.

That is a VERY nice feature of the ACC in the Subaru. My Bronco definitely didn’t do that. So I guess the question is… is that how the Bronco ACC works? It will match speed and distance down to 7mph but then just “quits” adaptive at that point and you better be paying attention to hit that brake pedal? Or is mine not acting like it is supposed to? Or is there a setting to tweak that I just haven’t gotten to in the manual yet?

I mean it is still better than no ACC so I’m not complaining. Just learning the ins and outs and making sure I’m aware of capabilities and limitations. It kind of caught me off guard since I was expecting it to stop and then resume like the Subaru. Glad I had that foot near the brake and ready!

Different systems.

I'm personally glad it allows you to do the final braking and kicks in again once you get up to a certain speed. Keeps u involved and alert in driving. Just Different systems and personal preferences.

But I'm with you. Now that I've had it I really like and want it on all of my vehicles.

ACC systems are different even in same manufacturers. Had a 2019 RAV4 that was a full range ACC and a 2019 Tundra that would quit at about 27 mph.

I don’t have it on my Bronco and only miss it on some occasions.

I didn’t know what I had been missing all these years until I got my bronco. Love it!

My 2021 Tacoma kicks off to let you die at about 18 mph. I’ve had to slam on the brakes a few times.

I'm glad everybody likes acc but as a professional driver of 35 years and 3.75 million miles of experience I hate it.

Wife's 2020 Escape works exactly like the OP's Sube does. I did notice that it makes a difference in how the following distance is set. One bar gets you uncomfortably close to a stopped car while four bars seems just right for bumper to bumper city driving. In either case the Escape would stop and resume just like he described the Sube. Funny that the Bronc would be different.

I haven't tried to take mine to a stop but I have found that even with emergency braking assist turned off if a car in front is rapidly slowing to turn and the system thinks it might hit it, it'll dynamite the brakes with an "adaptive cruise" warning on the cluster. As much as I love the ACC especially behind those A-holes that can't hold a steady speed that "feature" is very annoying.

Shouldn't you ALWAYS be paying attention while driving??? Whether it be a tesla on auto pilot, your everyday car with adaptive cruise, or a 1970's beetle. You never know when a person that's not paying attention, runs that red light and smacks you, or they rear end you on the interstate at 70 mph because the traffic came to a stop, or they drift into your lane causing a head on collision on a 2lane road.

Don't be that guy. I would be effing pissed if I was rear ended and the person that rear ended me used this as an excuse thinking that their ACC was supposed to stop them...

Just because some ACC systems do ALL the work for you (like the Subaru) and some don’t (like the Bronco) doesn’t mean you shouldn’t always pay attention and be 100% alert.

While it caught me off guard, it wasn’t because I wasn’t paying attention (just to set your mind at ease). That’s why I hit the brake because I WAS paying attention and saw it wasn’t going to do like the Subaru.
The fact that I had to apply the brake isn’t what “surprised” me. Just the fact that it was different. I figured all ACC systems were the same. They obviously aren’t.

I’m gonna put my ear buds back in and try and finish this game of Candy Crush before I reach the next stop light. ✌

I have a Bronco and a Subaru ascent so I go back-and-forth between the two systems all the time. The Subaru is vastly superior to everything except following distance. The Subaru leave so much space people cut me off constantly. But the stop and go traffic is no comparison and switching between vehicles is actually kind of difficult because of the stop and go difference.

This is the difference between “stop and go” ACC, and just regular ACC. The Bronco has Fords ancient ACC system without stop and go. Most modern fords will do exactly what your Subaru does, full stop and go. We got hosed. The Broncos ACC cuts out at about 15-20, be careful.

I don’t think I have used the cruise control in the last 25 years on any of my vehicles. Most of my driving involves lots of stopping
