60/40 rear split bad for Overlanding?

Anyone familiar with Overlanding has probably seen the Goose Gear type systems for the rear cargo area. A popular option is a 60% rear seat delete and placing the fridge slide behind the 40%. This allows 3 passengers and a sleeping area if you are not too tall.

My question is will the Bronco having the 60 driver/40 passenger (12V on passenger) be better or worse that the Jeep 40 driver/60 passenger (12V on Driver)?

Some thoughts:

• On the Jeep having the fridge slide on the driver side is almost required since the rear door only opens 90°
• Will the fridge slide clear a tailgate table on the Bronco since the door opens further?
• Does the Bronco driver seat go as far forward as the passenger so that I can sleep inside?

Now about that sleeping arrangement...since I am just shy of 8' 13.5" I guess I will have to sleep outside...

Definitely getting a 4 door. Overlanding will be solo, solo w/dog or a couple w/dog. Wheeling for the day I may bring a friend if they want to go but prefer not to have to rearrange the seat delete set up.

I plan on getting a roof top tent but for nasty weather it is nice to be able to hide in the cab.

You're gonna need to put some sort of platform into the cargo area to raise the floor up to the level of the folded down /40 rear seat. There's a drop-off of several inches, that won't be comfortable to sleep across otherwise.

Yes I am aware; that is why I mentioned the Goose Gear type systems. They create a flat surface from the tailgate to the back of the front seat with some storage underneath. Of course this assumes they are working on a Bronco system.

Yeah I opted to wait for the 2022 as well. I imagine the aftermarket will come up with a better solution than the pull out tailgate. A drawer would be nice if you wanted to keep the rear seat.

However my friend has the Goose Gear rear seat delete in his JLUR and it is surprising how much storage it has underneath...great place for your heavier items like tools/recovery. I'm gonna delete at least the 60%, maybe the whole thing.

Haha wasn't trying to say that at all. I am just excited and want to plan my build (way too early). Curious as to peoples thoughts and opinions on it being opposite the Jeep. I find the collective is always more creative than myself.

I would think you'd want the 40% behind the driver right? There will always be a driver, but with the passenger seat all the way forward you'd have maximum "long storage" or whatever you want to call it for hauling stuff unless I am missing something.

Same reason when you hop in a town car or cab or whatever you always sit in back on the passenger side.

Good point, I guess that it may affect some people in that way. I have a truck as my daily so I am not too concerned with that. I guess if you have long items you want to take off-road/overlanding it may impact you.

I am really just more concerned with the drivers seat being far enough forward for me to sleep on the drivers side in crazy bad weather. In all honesty none of this is going to change my mind...I'm getting the Bronco.
