Union Springs to Flagpole Knob (Virginia) Off-Road Group Ride

Yesterday the Broncos of Virginia(s) club had a small get-together to tackle Union Springs Road to Flagpole Knob.

For those looking to wheel this one, we aired down and hit the trail a bit before 11 am and were at the top not long after 1 pm, putting us at about two and a half hours to get there, with a short break to play in the mud and another for a quick meal prior to the summit.

The trail starts with a decently steep hill off to the side, which I clocked at a 21-degree incline, but is absolutely flattened by the camera. The rest of the trail is a great way to introduce your Bronco to some dirt, featuring a mix of smaller rock climbs (up to about 15 inches), mud puddles, and some narrow-ish paths.

If you’re wondering “could my Bronco do this?” the answer is yes. The lead vehicle/trail guide was a modified Jeep Renegade.

If you take the road down from Flagpole, it terminates at the road to Reddish. Reddish is a good view, but also paved.

Skidmore to Flagpole is a nice trail, too
