Anybody else being asked to pay $500.00 to order a 2022 Bronco? I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, and was told it'll be a $500.00 deposit, although Ford still says $100.00?!
Be sure when they take your money to get your agreed upon selling price in writing. Do not let them tell you that isn't necessary or available. If nothing else both of you sign a printed off order sheet. I may go as far as making sure the sales manager signs it not just the salesman, that will be working in his third dealership by the time your Bronco arrives.

That’s 100% normal, some dealers ask for a lot more, and the $100 from Ford was for reservations, which they’re are no longer doing.

I paid a $1000.00 down payment for mine. Seemed pretty reasonable. Also, make sure to get an actual price agreement from the sales manager to avoid any unexpected price hikes.

It has been said, but get a purchase agreement, that has your signature and theirs - or similar of the sort. While I'm sure everyones sales person has a smile and you feel comfortable, you let your guard down - that is their job. You only buy cars from people you like, right?

With that said, some sales people will use that to their advantage. Just be careful and protect yourself and your time.

I didn’t have to put any money down on my order I did last week. The salesman said he thought it was $500 but after I signed the price breakdown for sale price+ taxes to make sure that’s what I pay. He shook my hand and that was it. No money exchange. I also went back few days later to make some changes and still no money exchange.

$1k on first order and $500 on second. 2 separate dealers and both fully refundable so why not. I'd actually have less trust in the process if no money was asked of me.

I normally don't ask for money when taking orders, all I ask is that you let me know if you already took delivery of a vehicle or changed your mind. I can easily cancel it, as long as it is before a build date. In Michigan, I can't legally hold anyones money anyways - unless there is a written agreement.

I know some prefer to put money down to confirm everything and make sure the vehicle is theirs. It is of course refundable still.

I usually will tell someone there is a $500 deposit, and see how they act. If they get weirded out or start being funny, I can start to see how serious they are.

Yes, that is Ford's new allotment scheme for Broncos. I think maybe the 100$ reservation cancellatons were so high that Ford wanted buyers to have more skin in the game. My feeling is that with this scheme, you get a Bronco in 6, maybe even 3 months depending on your order.
