Kicker is at Bronco event I’m at and they have the 400.1 amp for sale, but I’m planning on doing the sub replacement upgrade to my B&O based on previous recommendations. Would the 400.1 work instead of the 500.1?

Depends on the specs of the sub that you intend to use. The 400 denotes 400 watts of power and the 500 denotes 500 watts of power. If the sub is rated for 400 or less then it should suit your needs.

(if the sub is rated for 500 watts and you use the 400.1, it will work but, you will not be achieving max output)

It'll absolutely work.

My personal opinion?? If you have the B&O package just get the @mObridge kit and be done with it. The Kicker 400.1 / 500.1 makes perfect sense for the base 7-speaker audio setup. But for the B&O kit the mObridge package is just overall the best all-in-one upgrade option.

In addition to @RagnarKon’s good advie

you likely wouldn’t notice much difference between the 400.1 and 500.1 until you get to some pretty high volumes.

depends on how much you want to rattle the windows, or the neighbors windows

Thanks for the reply @RagnarKon - your vids have been incredibly informative and valuable. I’d love to do the mObridge kit, but it’s pretty expensive and the ol’ inflation sure has put a damper on my spending.

Ah okay, the 400.1 will still work.

The challenge will be where to mount the new amplifier. You cannot use the factory spot because the factory amp on the B&O setup powers not only the subwoofer but also four other speakers in the Bronco. Therefore the 400.1 will have to be added on top of the factory amplifier.

People have found mounting solutions and many of those have been posted online, so it shouldn't be too hard. But just a heads up... you won't be able to simply remove the factory amp and install an aftermarket amp. That factory amp will have to remain.
