$500 is reasonable. Non refundable is a do not pass go go straight to another dealer.
Actually, a $500 non-refundable deposit is reasonable. If you special order a Jeep and walk away, the deposit you lose is similar. A lot of high dollar deals have earnest money deposits that you lose if you walk away after agreeing to buy.

My dealer required nothing, and the thread posted above covers this at length.

Anyone else being told that a $2500 non-refundable deposit will be required to order a Bronco? My dealership says Ford is requiring each order to be a sale so they have to charge that. For a vehicle I have never seen, never driven, never sat in and that doesn't even have color or leather samples, I am feeling like this is a deal killer.
Run don’t walk only 500 was required bye most dealers actually 400 cause they counted the 100 reservation deposit

My dealer was requiring a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. I can understand perhaps doing that if production for your build is scheduled but without having an estimate on a potential delivery date it’s hard to just leave money out there. Who knows what surprise delays will come down the line with C19 related supply chain issues. If you expected a FY21 and then they schedule you end up at end of FY22, some may need to execute on a contingency plan.

I should have seen it coming though, they were shady when I tried to buy a Focus RS when it was initially launched. I switch my Rez to another dealer in a more rural area about 25 miles from home and they’ve been amazing right out of the gate.

My dealer finally called last night and told me the same thing, based on your location I believe we have the same dealer. I called about 10 other dealers in the valley and nobody is asking more than $1000, some of which aren't even asking for an additional deposit. This is disappointing because I bought my truck through them and was trusting that they were going to be reasonable but $2500 is just a lot for a vehicle I won't realistically see for 8+ months. What did you end up doing if you don't mind me asking?

According to my dealer rep, no deposit will be required for both reservations I currently hold - FE and WT. Let's see what happens when I place the orders...

I am going to move my reservation. Still looking for a good alternative.

I was asked to give $500. Refundable - just a good faith deposit.

My dealer asked $1400 additional. But they let me know in November. I understand the point. It would really suck for the other 150,000 reservation holders to be leapfrogged because dealers built, and then were stuck with one these vehicles. Then some guy buys it off the lot. Not like they can just send them back to be reforged into the next Bronco. The next customer up is what a dealers business model has been for years. Now ford is going to penalize this action. They’ve never not had the power. Extra $ keeps them from being the only one’s with skin in the game. I ask what will moving dealers do to help? Other than better allocation. If you order do u plan on buying? And if you plan on buying, what would cause you to not take delivery? Im just trying to understand what the dealer “scam” is?
