22 Big Bend NON-SIG Trailer Wiring Help

Hey everyone!

I purchased a 4 pin trailer wiring connector for my truck and long story short, i hard wired right to the wires that go into the tail light harnesses. I tested which wire was for which function on the harness (brakes, blinker, etc) and then cut those wires and spliced right into it. I grounded the wire to a bolt on the body and all seemed to work correctly.

Now i have been noticing that the blinker sound is blinking faster like the bulb is out, however the blinker is working. Also, when the blinker is on the reverse light gets a bit of power to it as well when the blinker is NOT blinking. One light blinks then the other and so on.

Anyone have any similar issues or done the same process for hooking up their trailer wiring?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Really can't wire modern cars like old cars, you can easily overload the circuit and damage it. You need to use a harness and box which is independently powered, these only sense that the turn signal, brake lights, etc. are on and do not put an additional load on the system. I would remove what you have and verify the problems go away and then purchase the correct harness.

Agreed with above. Curt has a 4 pin harness that is independently powered, which works like a charm with no issues.

Sounds like you need to change ur flasher to support the extra load since you're not wired into the tow circuit. Maybe blinker fluid is low? New trucks, ugh....
