2021 built 2 weeks after the problem batch, 12k miles no issue to date knock on wood. Love the engine so far.

So since the Broncos have been built there were a few problematic trends that seem to revolve specifically around the 2.7

1) Valves - this was resolved And finally acknowledged by Ford. Engines with an AB tag use different heads (I think it was heads). Whatever the issue was, it was limited to about a 2 to 3 month build span of 21 models only. (To be clear, not everything that was built during that time period bit some did get the "bad batch")

2) water hose interfering with pulley - supposedly Ford started adding an extra retainer, but if you own a 2.7, I would highly recommend you add a couple zip ties to pull that hose further away from the pulley.

3) Fuel pump failure - although not widespread, for some reason the 2.3 doesn't seem to have fuel pump failures. Of course their brakes can stop working :)

4) Alternator - again, not hugely widespread and usually always traced back to the driver "sending it" through mud at some point, But the 2.7 seems to be slightly more susceptible than the 2.3. supposedly this issue is now covered by a TSB but time will tell.

I just got my 2.7 a few weeks ago and I feel like its a little jerky accelerating from a stop through the first couple gears. It's hard to explain... maybe hesitates a little before it decides it wants to shift. Is that normal? Is this why people are installing the Pedal Commander?

Obviously, I could be wrong, but my assessment of that phenomenon is that these lower gears are what makes the vehicle much easier to handle on trails. My transmission seems to have learned my driving habits and I do not notice it much any more. Around town, ECO mode hardens up the accelerator peddle and helps smooth the shifts out. Just my opinion….

Ford has stated it can take up to a thousand miles for things to kind of settle in. So just give it some time. Obviously don't ignore anything that is critically wrong, but it's going to do things that when you're on high alert, you're going to think something is out of whack.

Try Eco mode, it smooths out the shifts.
