I haven't seen how the Bronco transfer case handles things. the clutch packs make me a bit nervous.

Unless you have locking differentials engaged, using the transfer case to slow you is only using the traction of 2 wheels in a slippery situation at worst. At worst when using your brakes you have any wheel that has traction, up to all 4, down to just 1. Each wheel end in braking Is independent, unlike the driveline which is attached to each other.

I never had problems slowing down using my brakes in all the cars I had that didn't have ABS. And I never would use engine braking in slippery conditions.

You do you. I live in the Appalachians. Pretty much everything is either up or down hill. Using engine compression to slow is second nature...

I definitely use the engine compression to slow down at lower speeds but @ highway speeds in slippery conditions, I don't like the feels.......that said, with an automatic transmission, when you let off the gas, you're gonna have it......

I finally got my steed about a month ago and needed to have some dirt miles before being formally introduced here, absolutely love this color! She’s been doing bronco things since I’ve picked her up from beach dunes to snowy mountains, can’t wait to see how she does in the desert at KOH

Did not like that green when I configured mine but it looks great here , had mine 6months and only got it off-road once a week ago.waiting on just ordered skids before venturing out again.
