This is the direction I was leaning, just falling back to four tire rotations. I liked the idea of keeping the 5 tire rotations, but if it needs to be done with, then so be it.
I haven't tried driving with the new tire in rotation yet. Will likely keep it as a dedicated spare.
Recently had to get a single tire replaced due to unrepairable damage. I purchase and service my tires through Discount Tire and had the protection, so <50$ for a brand new tire seemed like a pretty good option.
Vehicle has ~20K miles and has factory Goodyear Territory 35s. I had been doing 5...
Well then I wonāt waste my time with the kit then. Explains why the dealer couldnāt find any part for the bolt.
22 ft lbs⦠what a mess this has been. I appreciate your wealth of information. I wish this kind of stuff was more readily available to the public/home mechanic
Update:
Turns out the bolt needed for the caliper guide pins are:
-Flange head
-M8x1 (fine thread, not to be confused with M8x1.25 coarse)
-ISO grade 10.9.
-Length is just about 23mm range
I have not been able to find any hardware matching that, even ignoring the strange length. Lots of...
That was my contingency plan. Figured if the dealership had it, might as well. Didnāt think these bolts were any special grade or anything. Considering it snapped before my torque wrench hit 48.
If I canāt get the broken bolt out of the guide pin, may need to buy that kit anyways.
Thanks again.
Thank you Ducati. I saw this part when looking on my same dealers web portal for parts and even mentioned this to him. Anyway, this is for the whole kit including pins and boots. Is just the bolt available?
So I was checking my brakes and was torquing the caliper guide pins to 48 ft lbs when one snapped. I called the dealership near me and they couldnāt find a PN for a replacement bolt? Why is this recommended to be replaced when a replacement part isnt available? Anyone have a PN?
I was able to use points to cover most of the cost of mine. I know itās expensive but having it in the truck all the time is nice. Added a larger spanner wrench for tie rod work, but it has most of what youād need. It fits perfectly under the rear seat (4 door) and having the Bronco logo on the...
I can get a new caliper through a local dealer delivered tomorrow. Think I will just do that.
Appreciate the replies. Kicking myself for forgetting about and trying later the brake maintenance mode. Costly mistake but will never happen again.
If I have to replace it all, so be it. I had some hope though because Iāve seen some videos of other caliper rebuilds though where that boot pops out and can be re-seated. I didnāt know if this one came out easily. I have not tried too hard to remove it yet for fear of tearing the boot.
At the...
I ended up pulling the entire caliper off. The piston was not locking in with this piece underneath. Now that everythingās out I can actually see how it fits together.
Any idea on how to get these back inside the rubber boot?
