Went with 1/4 x 1” carriage
instead of supplied. The pan head of the carriage bolts is a little too big for the slot on the awning, but 1/4 inch regular bolts were barely big enough and I wanted more surface area in the track of the awning. So I used the carriage bolts and used my grinding...
Yes, used the Trailrax brackets and didn’t try others. Don’t have an RTT, but I’m curious if the supplied mount would interfere too since they mount to the cross bars too. Anxious to see how yours turns out.
I bought all of this from a guy selling his Bronco. He had used the mount that came with the awning and used some rubber spacers on the bolts in the rack to raise it above the sides.
He also gave me the 90 degree brackets...
Have tried threading H in to see if threads match? If you’ve got any spare bolts laying around, experiment to find thread size and then go find the right style/length at the hardware store. I didn the same with after market second hand rock sliders and awning mount that were missing bolts...
Was thinking the same thing! Love how nimble my 4 door is, but to the question…BD due to washout floors and bash plates. I also agree with searching the used market. Sticker on my OBX SAS was $63k. Bought it 6 months later with 4400 miles for $49k
Had the same thing happen on passenger side a few weeks ago. Took it to dealer and it was their first, but got glass ordered and they are replacing Tuesday. Hope they’ve fixed the problem. Will be interested if they’ve reengineered anything.
Finally got around to installing my awning. We’re headed out to Silver Lake in couple of weeks to run the dunes after stopping of at the Tulip Fesitval in Holland, MI. This will be our first camping trip with the Bronco. Super excited!
Awning is big, easy to set up and put away. I’ll add...
Thank you! I thought about adding OEM, but the juice didn’t seem worth the squeeze from a cost/install standpoint. And the only negative I’ve seen in the position of the panel is it basically makes the grab handle useless for the passenger.
I bought my OBX gently used last December. It had everything I wanted except for the aux switches. Just installed the Bronco LED Aux Panel from @4x4TruckLEDs.com and couldn’t be happier. Easy install and paired up with Rough Country’s triple LED fogs. Hooked the high beams up to the 20 amp and...
Glad you got all of the hate out so we don’t have to! JK
I’ve only observed support in this community. Everyone has their own goals and budgets, brought together by the nolstagia of the OBS and the desire to not have ducks in our windshields. Own it, love it! Good looking ride!
I don’t have a lift and it literally took 10 minutes. I have the SAS front and engine skids which are metal, so don’t have trim engine skid as ASFIR’s video suggests. Just unbolted the engine skid with my impact, installed four bolts of the trans skid and replaced engine skid. Save your time...
Awesome, thanks!! Looks like you can buy annual online, so might be worth it just to secure it and incase I make a follow-up trip later in the year! Thanks again
Anyone ever been to Silver Lake and run the dunes? Reserved a campsite for 5/10. My wife wants to hit up the tulip festival in Holland and then we’re going to head up, wheel a bit and camp. Looks like you need a park passport and OVR license, plus a front mounted flag. Should be a time.
Didn’t know about the rules, but a colleague and I got ours around the same time and our duck buddy took it upon himself to call us out…hate what you ain’t…lol
