I don't have the Weaterhtech mat for the Bronco, but I have had them for several other vehicles. In every case where I wanted to use the tie-down points, I've had to cut the mat to gain access. It wasn't a big deal to me, but my wife was adamant that I didn't cut them for her SUV. C'est la vie.
Did you ever figure this out? I need to take that trim piece off as well. Ultimately, It looks like the trim panel under the rear seat belts needs to come out.

I'm about 90% sure that there is option buried in the radio menus to automatically turn off after a specified period. Now that probably works just fine until you run APRS sending out packets every 2 or 5 minutes.
