May be a great idea to get the transmission engineers from Getrag involved. Synchronizers tend to make noise during the actual shift from gear to gear when they are attempting to bring the next subsequent gear up to speed. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is truly just a fluid viscosity...

Check for a leak both cold and hot, may be leaking on a cold engine. When the engine warms up, the coolant evaporates with the heat and then you smell it. (20 years as Ford Technician).

Installed RC high mount winch bracket with Badlands winch. I haven't cut bumper plastic trim yet. Any ideas on using a different material? Don't want to cut the factory trim pieces.
