Got my Bronco back!!! … and now it’s dented šŸ˜‚šŸ˜ They’re gonna have their ā€œpaintless dent repairā€ guy ā€œfixā€ it tomorrow. SMH.

Lucchese you're doing a great job tracking all of this. Thanks for the effort.
  3. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Thanks! I hope I get many enjoyable years out of this vehicle yet.
  4. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I wouldn’t say I’ve panicked, but it was definitly nerve wracking being stranded on the side of a freeway with my dogs in between a guard rail and 18 wheelers for 90 minutes in 25 degree weather. It’s all relative, but that was a big deal to me. That negative feeling has only been compounded by...
  5. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Me and my dogs were stranded 3 hours from home in 25 degree weather on a Sunday. Getting towed to the nearest dealership was not an option. We needed to get home. It sucked, but I’m glad the engine blew and it’ll be replaced with one with the ā€œimprovedā€ valve design. If I just puttered...
  6. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

For some of us, the sky already fell. My advice to those in the target date range for increased failures: drive the shit out of your Bronco. IMO, it's better to have the engine blow now and get a new replacement AB engine, then to be timid with it and not stress test it. Mine blew 3 hours...
  7. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Exactly! It’s frankly, incredibly embarrassing. To top it off, I learned the top is recalled… so it’ll be quite awhile before I have it back with the new engine and new top.
  8. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Can we get back to talking about how my engine blew up on day 8 of ownership? :-D
  9. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Right on. USAA covered me up to the first 60 miles. After that it was on me. If Ford is going to leave thousands of vehicles out there with faulty valves that are ready to blow, the least they could do is pay for them to get all the way home when they do blow.
  10. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Thanks for confirming this. That policy is absolutely ridiculous. I was 200+ miles from home, and due to be on a flight from RDU to DEN the next day. I paid $713 to get towed to my hometown dealership, and dropped off at the house. Then I paid several hundred to change my flight from RDU to...
  11. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

had the shop snap this photo today. Hopefully this helps y’all with documentation. So, I spent 42 minutes on the phone with Ford’s customer service department. The guy was really trying to be helpful, but ultimately concluded there was nothing he could do about reimbursing for the tow truck...
  12. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

I was on cruise control, going ~70, around 3 hours into a 12 hour drive. It was 25 degrees out. I had not been passing vehicles or accelerating quickly or anything like that. It just lost all power at the gas pedal and I drifted over to the shoulder to wait for the tow truck.
  13. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Just filed a NHTSA complaint. Y'all be safe out there.
  14. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

It’s in the shop now. Is there another way I can find that info other than peeking under the hood? I was on cruise control going about 70 when I lost all power at the gas pedal. I made it to the side of the highway and waited 90 minutes for a tow truck to come get me. I had my dogs with me and...
  15. 2.7L blown engine failure list . . 68 so far [Updated: December 13, 2022]

Add me to the list. 2021 2DR OBX 2.7 auto with 3,818 miles. Catastrophic engine failure - a valve came loose and was crushed by the pistons or some such nonsense. Sucks to be me. Replacement motor is on order and could take a couple weeks. No loaner vehicle available. Good thing I’ve still got...
