I looked into lamin-x, but people were complaining that it wasn't very clear, that it really was only meant for headlights, paint, etc, not for windshields. I ended up buying a kit from www.grab-gard.com. It was a self install that was pre cut. It took me under an hour to install.

Oh wow, that is a really hard hit from something. I'm glad everybody is ok, that is scary that it was so bad that glass pieces were coming into the car, it sounds like whatever it was was on the verge of coming all the way through. I'm not sure if it would have helped with this big of a hit...

Wow, that is terrible. Pretty ridiculous that they couldn't get a windshield replacement right.

You'll need to remove the parts the interfere, that's more important than a lift for running big tires.
