Father-in-law's just had the same issue on his Expedition. Def electrical, could be electrical ground related. Jeep wranglers and gladiators we're having the same issues and that is what they narrowed it down to.

I've had remote start system added to a stick vehicle. This was prob 15 years ago. I had to to remember in this order. Put the car into reverse, pull the e brake, then put into neutral, turn off the car. If you didn't to that, then remote start wouldn't work. PITA
