Never got it fixed and my Ford CS email agent went silent after my last message saying I wasted $136 at the dealer for them to not do anything I hadn't already tried. 🙄🤦🏻♂️
So the FAD remains hanging by a bolt and some zip ties. Oh well - at least it works.
I've never looked so forward to railroad tracks before in my life. 🤣
I also have no idea what the adjusters are set to. 😆 I drove about 90 miles today hoping to start the settling process while getting groceries (I live in BFE). On regular cracks below like 35, they're very similar to the...
I almost forgot. Stock fronts vs Kings:
I took a little jaunt out on some gravel roads (I live in the boonies and my in-laws farm is on one as well) and really like the improved suspension of the King's. I used to feel like I was driving on ball bearing or marbles while doing 45mph on the...
Well, with a little creative engineering, I was able to modify the reservoir brackets to mount to the top of the crash bar mounts, tucking the resi's nicely up behind the bumper.
My first attempt was to have the resi's follow the frame line but between the chassis and body mount. It just...
I was pretty impressed by the gains the Fabtech kit had, but they weren't too interested in sending me one (sitting on my money, yes). 🙄 Thus ultimately it came down to Fox and King, and I was able to source this set 3 months sooner than anyone could even guess I might see the Fox DSCs...
I looked at that area myself.
I was also thinking it'd be great if they just went above the crash bar mount, but that might be a bit too tight for the OD.
I went with Icon tubular steel and Delta joint Pro (not sure if there's a non-pro Bronco UCA? 🤷🏻♂️ ). 5 year warranty sold me on that one.
I've been contemplating what to do with the ass end's link set up. Does it really need fixing for my trail use? Am I not getting the articulation I...
One thing that I initially just didn't like, but now it's a real issue, is where the front reservoirs are supposed to go.
The DV8 front skid plate won't allow them to mount up close. Flipping the mounts around puts them out in harms way.
Fabtech's mounts put the resi aft of the strut, but...
My shocks showed up today and I got the rears in. Hopefully I'll get the fronts and UCAs in tomorrow.
King's as-delivered next to factory Big Bend Hitachi rear:
There were no instructions, so this is how the resi mounts go in back. Much easier installing before the shock:
It's about 18" or so. The filter is within an inch or 2 of where the trough emptied behind the wheel.
It doesn't change the oil volume more than a few ounces.
As someone who does his own maintenance, I was a bit underwhelmed at the side access past my 35x12.50's. Sure, you can crank the wheel and reach in there, and there's kinda enough room to wiggle past the brake lines if you use your left hand... But why? 🤦🏻♂️
So I took a trip to the Amazon...
It's also got SAS diffs and e-lockers w/4.7 gearing. 🤣
I'll be going with aftermarket UCAs and probably doing something to beef up the tie rods.
I want the extra travel and better damping for running lakes in the winter. Think of it like Baja but in the snow. 😁
So it's not "just me"...
I'm severely underwhelmed and amazed how bad my BB stock shocks handle gravel roads at even moderate speeds (like 45) with my 35's.
My King 2.5's can't get here soon enough. 😎
Just thinking out loud here. I really appreciate your insights as you're closer to the design team than I'll likely ever be. Just trying to hive-mind reverse engineer these suckers for everyone to follow.
Like Billy said - I don't want the ECU to be locking out my lockers depending on drive...
