I think that's just a marketing term Gigaparts uses for their MARS mod, but not really sure. I took a look at my order invoice when I was responding to @Tye and that's how it was listed, so I passed it along. No idea if they offer mod levels 1-3 or what those might entail.:D
Mine is the Yaesu FTM-400XDR. I think they recently discontinued it and replaced it with the FTM-500DR, though. Bought it from GigaParts with the MARS mod Level 4.
This is exactly why I installed the Yaesu Dual Band with MARS mod. I needed VHF for an EXO run, but also wanted UHF/GMRS to use when we take trips out West. Also didn't want to install 2 separate radios if I didn't have to.
I know that EXO requires at least a 50 Watt radio since they run in really remote areas. I think the handheld radios are usually in the 5-15 Watt range.
Thanks! Yeah, the audio on mine is OK, but I really need to mount an external speaker somewhere else. Just haven't gotten around to it. Really wish the mic had a speaker in it like the Midland GMRS radios do. That would be ideal for me.
I did the same thing in 2 of our Broncos. Got the Yaesu FTM-400 with MARS mod installed behind the glovebox with Antennas mounted on A-Pillars beside ditch lights. They both work great so far.
1) Yes. I bought the carbon fiber version for my Raptor.
2) Yes, I really like it so far. I damaged my OEM MIC top in a rollover crash. At the time I ordered it (Dec. 2022), there were no other options on the market that I liked, so I went with the CF. I don't regret it at all. It looks...
We’ve got 4 6G’s in our family. One with Bilsteins, one with HOSS 3.0 Foxes, one with Kings, and a Raptor. I’ve spent quite a few miles behind the wheel in each one.
I honestly don’t think you’re going to notice a huge difference between the HOSS 3.0 Foxes and the Kings on the street.
You’re...
I think @350vudu is correct about them being 13.5’s. I’ve got 12.5 KM3’s mounted on a set of beadlocks and they don’t look as wide as the blue Bronco’s tires.
I’ve got a set of Magnums on our 2 Door and really like them, so I ordered another set for my wife’s Bronco over a year ago. Still waiting on those….
Since they’ll never arrive, I’m waiting until the OEM Raptor style steps for non-Raptors are available from Ford Parts. I really like the fact...
Finally got around to installing a Power Tank on top of my Diabolical Slipstream enclosure. Not sure if I’ll keep it here, but it seems to be a good spot with easy access and minimal impact on rear visibility.
For me, mounting ditch lights up on the A pillar is fine, but for long range spots, I prefer them on the bumper. Of course, everybody has their own preferences.
If you do decide to mount the LP's on the pillars, my suggestion is to definitely get the side shields and install them on the inward...
I've got Baja Designs LP4's mounted on the pillars on a couple of our Broncos and have never had any terrible issues with glare on the hood, but I use them as ditch lights so they're not aimed straight ahead. I don't honestly think you'll see a significant difference in glare between the spot...
Congrats! The painted fenders look fantastic on the Velocity Blue. I did something a little different on mine, but would've opted for this look if it was available in 2022 when I bought it.
I know it’s been while, but I got the CF top in April and finally got my Bronco out of the shop in December. Here are a few pics. Top is really nice and I’m very happy with it.
This was one of the reasons I actually chose the carbon fiber top. I don’t love the rough texture on the other Anderson tops or the MIC top, so it boiled down to the carbon being the one I liked the most.
I haven’t had the issue with the lift struts yet, but my hinge covers were broken within...
When I saw the pic posted above in my news feed, I actually wondered if it was you, but I see the tail numbers are different. As many others have said, much respect to you and your crew!
I love the crop dusters, but they are definitely nuts! I've never been around any firefighters, so was...
