I agree. I looked into what they had to see if there was something that might help with my trials. I ended up just ordering a cheap adaptor for webcam power adapter which gave me the connector I needed.

Quick update.. (been busy with end of the school year, kids sports, etc). Powering the mirror is no issues and I was able to swap the pins into the new connector, so that part is easy. BUT… I am having issues with the Ford factory camera in the 3rd brake light. The Gentex camera works great...

Quick update - I was away traveling for work, now back home and working on this. The harness I created work great, so that part is solved. Working through a few other small issues and testing a few things, should have the final parts list needed by tomorrow evening. :).

No, no flashing needed. Nothing is wired into the canbus. The mirror just needs 12v power and then the camera is connected to the camera with a coax with FAKRA connectors. So as far as connections to the car, it is exactly the same as the current dinning mirror (which has 12v power)

Good progress so far today 😬 the hard part is done. Wired up exactly how it would be from the factory added to the factory looms and covered in felt tape,etc. Cable currently sitting just inside the tailgate, so I just need to run it up to the rear view mirror.

Here is everything you need, except for a 12-16pin adapter that should arrive today. The GENTEX kit comes with three different lengths of coax for the camera run, the idea is you connect them together to get the total length you need.

This is a photo someone sent me of their 2026. I don't think they use a gasket on this camera.

I might just use a little silicone. I am not sure that gasket is even on this camera. Any water that gets past the camera is just going to go inside the light mount structure. I guess the question is... is it vented at the bottom?

That's a different camera... so curious if there is one on this camera. This camera has a much smaller diameter on that area.

Adding a note (so I dont forget later) that the camera is held in place with #8 self tapping screws, I used 1/2 deep. Not sure what the Ford part number is for the actual screws, but guessing Ford uses 4.2mm diameter. Thanks, that is exactly what i was looking for.

Or just buy another of the many GENTEX mirror options that are available with Homelink. Just be plug and play and take 2 mins to swap.

The connector circled in red is the 12pin connector to the mirror. The mirror side has a bunch of wires, most aren't used. The car side of the connector should just have three wires. The mirror really only needs power and ground to work. The connector circled in orange is the coax cable that...

Yep. And it is the exact same mirror Land Rover uses... except Land Rover switched to the version that also has Homelink buttons (for the life of me I can't figure out why Ford didn't use that one!!.. I am guessing that was the original plan and something went sidewise). I don't need Homelink...

Can you take a few close up photos of there the wires from the mirror lead to and are connected? I know they have clips to attach, just curious where they attach and then where that power harness runs to. I am retrofitting my 2025 with the Gentex digital mirror... and want to have everything as...
