Sorry I didn't take In progress pics to show what I did.. but I will describe it best I can... bought two of these on Amazon (came in a pair) because I wanted at least one usb3 port..
And on inspection I realized I had room for both so I figured while I'm in there...
Grabbed my step bit and...
Ok.. so anytime I want to put groceries into the back of the vehicle you expect me to tilt the whole rack all the way back? Wouldn't the rack block the tailgate at that point anyway, preventing you from getting in.
Sure..
1. It's tight top and bottom. There is no gap in the top where you can fit your hand through, that's been filled by an added insert. So your not getting the wind noise thru there.
Also, factory top would flap and slap around the back in the wind or on the highway. This one...
For me the 'Factory' soft top compatibility issue is no longer a problem.... I got so tired of the loose noisy top... So I went down to 4wp, used my miltary discount and picked up the Bestop Trektop... soooo much quieter and a better fit overall... and, i dont have to do this weird shenanigans...
So @GOBI Racks when are we going to see the rack on a soft top for those of us who have ordered on the notion that the rack would be compatible with the existing soft tops.
I actually ended up with a pair of the rigid soft top brackets... and the noise/flapping issue completely went away....
Even with the pillow, there was still some.... enough to annoy me.. so found a guy who didnt use his soft top brackets and used them in place of mine... Yes, a little taller...
