Wd40 will not hurt anything but not too sure if it will take the glue off. I have no experience with using anything other product on the flares.

Went with a non sas badlands because it's setup great right out of the box, didn't want to spend a bunch of extra money for lockers and suspension afterwards when it came standard. Also steel bumpers and I love the mgv and rubber floors.
