once you figure it out, it works great. If you do order one, I would inventory your bolts and then take inventory of what you have on your vehicle and pick them up before hand. I picked up 5 of the 18MM bolts at Ace, hardware, with washers for $15 bucks. 4 of the Ford bash plate bolts cost me...
I got a 4 pack from Ford but I am sure you can get them cheaper, with washers at any big box hardware store. One thing to keep in mind, the bash plate will hide one of the MC skid holes. You could put a bolt in there, if you wanted to though.
You still have the bolt holes for the factory skid that you don't have. You just need to get some bolts and attach there. Step 3 F. IDK if the bolts are there or not. Let us know how it works out. This is my next step to finish it up. I too have a WT and no gas tank skid.
Galvanized 3/16" steel not sure on total wt. somewhere up around 200 lbs; Metalcloak | Bronco 6G Undercloak Replacement Skid Plates They do give a military discount too!
I did that and busted the pax side latch right off the top. used 3900 lb per sq inch JB weld to re attach it. Ford says I can't get just the fiberglass beam, have to replace the whole soft top.
Like the OP said, lay it out the way it should be assembled. It is like an Ikea bed you are putting together. Mine didn't come with the antiseize, I had to go buy some.
