@Y2KFirehawk I installed the https://www.autostopeliminator.com/ about six months ago and it works like a charm. Only sorry it took me so long to order it.
I have a 2 door so not as many panels but also less room. I usually have the back seats down and I keep a moving blanket folded as a cover/protection for that space. When I take the roof panels off I don’t use the storage pouch, I just slide the panels in between folds of the moving blanket...
@TrailRax Question. Do the updated crossbars fit all your Bronco 6G roof racks (four door, two door, full rack, half rack)? I couldn’t find that specifically on the product page (I found it using the search function on your website).
@Poppavein Agreed as to loading. I considered the lift jacks but didn’t like that 1) lifting from underneath would likely leave marks or indents on sound insulation, 2) I’d have to use floor space to store when the top is off, 3) I’d have to find somewhere to store the lift jack when not in...
@rws I was also concerned about balancing the roof as it is hoisted by only one contact point. It took some trial and error moving strap attachments back and forward again to find an acceptable balance point. I also didn’t want the cam straps to slip or move on the half-rack so they are wound...
@Offroad Newb I’m leaving my rack hanging for now mostly because it’s easier to move on the strut if I need to get into the closet. The 2 dr half-rack does add some wind noise but I’m not at speed all that much so doesn’t matter much. Don’t know if the 4 dr version would be the same. Mine...
Thanks all for the thoughts. Because the hoist makes it pretty quick and easy to take the roof on and off I’m thinking there won’t be any long-term (say six-months) storage. Probably more like a week or two, but who knows. I’m in the mountains in Idaho so the roof will definitely be back on...
@RagnarKon the hoist is rated for 440 lbs, the roof weighs 80 lbs and the rack adds probably another 20 lbs so shouldn’t be an issue there. What I don’t know is how strong the attachment of the half-rack to the roof is. The steel on the rack looks like 1/8” so should be pretty strong. I feel...
I installed a wireless remote electric hoist in a steel channel for taking off my 2dr roof (parts cost about $270). The Trailrax half-rack seemed to be attached pretty well and I didn’t really want to take it off so I built a frame out of 1” square steel tubing (1/8” wall thickness) to...
@TXBrian where did you source that flat metal hook used to attach your hoist to the roof mounting points. I need something like that to attach my hoist to my half rack as the half rack uses the mounting points.
@Scott R Nelson I am in Hailey and you can get a LONG ways from a town. My go bag also includes an aerosol spare repair and plug kit in addition to all the other things (battery saw, water filters, air compressors, jump start battery, etc.). Drove Ketchum-Smokey Bar-Featherville-Rocky...
When on the highway I usually keep speeds to 70-75 mph. One day I got 29 mpg but that was on two-lane passes and through Yellowstone Park where you can rarely go over about 40 mph it also had more downhill then uphill for the day.
Two results for BB 2dr noSAS auto. 1000 mile road trip about a month ago over to MT and over Beartooth Pass through Yellostone. 26 mpg. This week 150 miles of off-road one lane rough rocky surface over mountain passes stopping about every mile on the second day when I saw a good fly-fishing...
I put a Kuat Grip 6 ski rack on my 2 door with a TrailRax half rack last winter. Worked pretty well. I would think it would work on a 4 door half rack. Here is my thread on the installation with pics...
I got my 2023 BB 2.3 auto 2dr with mid package off the lot last September so couldn’t do any options. It’s been great. I added rock rails, half roof rack, hitch receiver and mudflaps and changed the grill letters to carbonized gray like the grill (much better than white). We’ve done hundreds...
My Ryobi inflator from Home Depot does my stock tires from 25 to 35 lbs in about 4 minutes. Did all four tires easliy on a single battery that I already had. Shows the pressure and stops at the set point. Only $40 so I bought a second one to cut the time in half using a second battery I...
BB 2.3 2dr auto non-sas stock tires with half roof rack. I’ve been checking mileage against the computer number and it actually is fairly close. Been running around 25 mpg. Last tank was 25.7 vs 25.8 computed. I rarely hit 65; mostly country roads with some off-pavement exploring thrown in.
@Aonarch be careful with the can mounted vertically on your spare. When you open your rear hatch it might hit your taillight and break it. I had to mount my rotopax gas cans high on the spare to avoid this.
I wasn’t real fond of the white bronco letters on my Big Bend grille. Ordered replacement carbonized gray letters from UPR to match the rest of the grille. Better, at least for me. The colored bronco letter stickers Ford sells didn’t look right.
