I took it to get my hair cut today. Yesterday, I slipped a piece of rubber inner tube under the locating pin on the passenger side PIC top panel. This put a stop to the constant popping sounds I was getting. So relieved that fixed it.

Moving the middle to the front and the crossbars are too far apart. It only actually works if the crossbar is in the middle position. But that leaves the front unsupported. I am thinking of buying a crossbar and drilling my own holes for it to support the rack or just moving the one crossbar...
