I have the SAS Badlands, I think it looks better, it has better clearance and is better for "rock climbing" you get better torque to the wheel in it. For general overlanding I don't see where it would be a must. If you plan on the rocks yeah maybe. I am pretty sure that you will get better...

my wife uses it every time she gets in with the doors removed, she is 5'7" and we are on 35's , no running board step. I have the strap handles mounted to the top rail that I use when the days have been longer than my legs...lol . I actually use the straps from time to time when I dismount.

I drive either A: 100 miles a week stop and go or B: 250 miles a weekend at 80-85 mph. If I run premium gas, I will avg. 17-17.5 miles per gallon. If I run regular I will avg. 16.5. I run my tires at 36 psi and got 49,800 miles out of the original 35" tires.
