  1. Factory skids on my 24 badlands, what should I protect next, rear diff, A arms?

The Full OE skid seems to cover the transmission already. Are you suggesting getting a beefier one?
  2. Factory skids on my 24 badlands, what should I protect next, rear diff, A arms?

I’ve installed the rear shock mount skids from RCI, but after looking underneath, I noticed a few other components that might need protection. While I don’t plan on rock crawling intentionally, accidents happen, and it seems like adding extra protection wouldn’t hurt. What should be next on the...
  3. Installed Ford's Tailgate Table yesterday

Yeah, I saw them too late, but for what I am going to use it for this will fine, once I upgrade the straps.
  4. Installed Ford's Tailgate Table yesterday

Can you post a pic of that dent? The dent is on the outside of the rig? I thought beefing up the limit straps would prevent more extensive damage to the table if one of the OE straps failed and taco top. I have just ordered some black 1.5mm and 3mm Dyneema paracord; I will fab attachment points.
  5. Installed Ford's Tailgate Table yesterday

I plan to upgrade the cable limit straps soon, which should allow me to increase the weight limit to around 50 lbs. I suspect the thin cable and pin are the weak points. I may also relocate the cable attachment point to the door or higher up on the frame to improve durability.
  6. New Mod Monday!!! What's your latest Mod?

Tailgate table and RCI rear shock mount plates. No pics on the shock guards.
  7. Installed Ford's Tailgate Table yesterday

The dealer gave me a few trinkets to compensate for my dissatisfaction with how they handled the sale. The kit was nicely packaged and seemed straightforward to install. (They offered to install it for me, but I, as a seasoned mechanic, chose to do it myself.) Everything was going well until I...
  8. Loaded my new 4D Bronco for some car camping

lol. Yes, but in our case, we never left the pavement and stayed in a US park service campground; it felt like a stretch to say overlanding.
  9. Loaded my new 4D Bronco for some car camping

Dude! Wow, this is the rig to aspire to. What have you done with the tailgate hinge to better support that weight, or am I overthinking it?
  10. Loaded my new 4D Bronco for some car camping

I'll check out the Bass Pro bins. The ones I have now are just your Home Depot fare and not particularly great. I've got a roof rack in mind, but I have not pulled the trigger on one yet. I'm waiting on my RCI rock sliders first.
  11. Loaded my new 4D Bronco for some car camping

I quickly realized I needed to pack differently. I initially tried using X straps for my gear in the back, but while it worked, it wasn’t ideal for anything like an overland trip. I’ve since ordered a cargo net to better secure things for next time. What strategies do you use that might work...
  12. Feedback on RCI vs Metal Tech 4x4 Rock Sliders

Is the the 5 degree? I am starting to link that way, thinking about my dog getting in and out, might be safer, especially getting out.
  13. AC not repaired under warranty because bumper?

I'm certified in my state to do automotive AC work, and I can tell you from experience that the smell of leaking refrigerant is incredibly awful—and that's intentional so you know when there's a leak. If you happened to remove one of the caps and then pressed the tire-like valve while installing...
