  1. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

For what it is worth myself and others are getting really really good (exceptional really) results with PUP out to 5k - at least with the "made from" & "made with" formulations. In about 3k I will test the most recent (let's call "made with who the hell knows" formulation :ROFLMAO:) formulation...
  2. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

These are good points about what a continuing Dexos rating would mean. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall you wear metals never seemed to get below (maybe right at) 5ppm with MB ESP? In any case your results with Valvoline Restore and Protect is really good and I was thinking that...
  3. Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

pics please. would love to see your arrangement inside and how much your floor is still sticking up.
  4. Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

It's funny, I agree with everything your said....for me. ...but then I think about my wife and daughter and ask myself "would I want them changing a tire with the Bronco's OEM jack - even on a level dry surface of my own garage?" The answer is no. It is that marginal, thin, under-built, and...
  5. Nebraska Clay Mud

Just last week I was pre-running a remote trail alone and got into some mud (rainy season around here), and it was dicey - locked up (it was flat) and could barely move, cursing myself for not spending recent time with the Zoleo app interface. I have "hybrid" tires currently (MT EXP's) and...
  6. Positive battery posts too small, can't easily fit clamps on

I agree, as the clamps of both my maintainer and air compressor are smallish and I have to spend a few seconds and brain cells working them on...but in the end it's only a few seconds. The post/area is too "busy". As others have said, unless your actually jumping a dead battery, it is best...
  7. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

@Vynull , I was going to say what @BroncoChallenger mentioned: This is left over manufacturer machining that got past inspection, and was still there when the inattentive person (or robot 🤷‍♂️) screwed it in at the Ford Factory. I would add that this might not have been the only piece, indeed...
  8. Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

I considered it, but decided I didn’t want to make the room. Those who have them I’ve seen on the trail have put real effort into the organization of their recovery and other gear. I have seen others use something similar on the trail and it did work well. in the end I went for the...
  9. Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

Not even close. Does come with a bag, so there that ;) Edit: I can't remember exactly, but I think I jacked up my SAS Bronco (on frame) with this Gortech without using the extension (on level ground in my garage). Even so, go ahead and get the extension...
  10. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

I had a Chevy Nova in HS in the middle 80s that I poured that stuff into because it leaked and burned a quart about every fill up. I wonder if reclaimed oil is still sold…there are more than a few Bronco owners who might be sincerely interested  Just checked AI: Why Choose Re-Refined...
  11. Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

Here it is, the mother of all scissor jacks: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/jack-recommendation-for-bronco-raptor.123188/ it does add to the size/weight of my recovery gear, but I trust it when I’m in backcountry alone. Looks like it’s about half the cost of the one you listed in your...
  12. Will the Factory Jack handle the Sasquatch Package? What Jack options do people have?

I tested the factory jack in my garage and while it does work if used on the frame with the extension on SAS Bronco, it leaves very little extra height and it is apparent it would get overwhelmed in a non-ideal situation such as off-road, or even a gravelly slope on the side of the highway...
  13. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

Your probably right. Honest question - how would you go about it? "It" being the goal of a discussion of the subject without having to wade through 5 pages of "I do X and it ain't blown up on me yet and that's all anybody would want to know!!" Am I just a Romantic - a dreamer of dreams that a...
  14. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

Yeeaaaa, it's all too "sciency" for you. Hey, you know what you know, and you will keep telling us all about it....
  15. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

I'm just trying it out, seeing if it works, seeing if folks want to have a discussion beyond the usual worthless anecdotal and marketing BS. It was never going to work... :ROFLMAO:
  16. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

Have you thought about sending in a sample for testing, just to verify that Bronco's computer's interval is not too long for this particular formulation? A DI turbo presents different stresses (on the oil) then a NA motor, which may or may not be material. Then it might not be worth it to you...
  17. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

I might be trying too hard to head off the anecdotal cluster Ff%^&'s these threads often fall into. Let's try this: "Mobil 1 is solid enough for motorsports/racing use." So brand reputation - really, just marketing - is how one should determine what to buy? "I’ve used it in the wife’s Bronco...
  18. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

This is sooooo common - anecdotal "it has not blown up yet" so it must be good (that's the implication). I'm just going to say it: You don't know, you have no idea if the oil is good, bad, or ugly for your engine and operating conditions - you only know that the hypothetical worst case...
  19. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

He says as much, but also points out that in at least one important measure it is not quite as good as it used to be - but still way better then Motorcraft 'blend' and most others :ROFLMAO: I also think he is right to point to supply/geopolitical issues as the source of the change, not GF-7...
