Maybe it's an electrical issue? Did you try yanking the fuse(s) for the ABS module? I don't know how it works exactly but these things can apply the brakes automatically (hill start, collision avoidance, etc.) so it might be freaking out based on the sensor issue.
I had the shifter cable pop off the transmission in my 93 Bronco at the Taco Bell drive-thru window in college so I was stuck in park. Not only did I get to crawl around on hot asphalt soaked in soybeef grease but my e-brake didn't work so I had to borrow rocks from their landscaping to chock...
Oh crap! I hope it didn't get into anything vital, like the harnesses behind there?! My Goodyears pick up rocks but your tires take it to the next level
The service manual says to have a helper hold a wrench on the flats that are on one side of the rack gear while removing the tie rod. I'm assuming you (and probably everybody) get by without doing that?
I just got a valve core remover type air down tool that I'm going to try out at Fun Run. We might find out how strong the sidewalls are if we go too low, probably before we lose a bead. Any trail suggestions? I haven't finished my sliders so I'm not getting too crazy but I have to at least...
Definitely possible from the physical side but integrating with all the electronics will be a task, though not impossible. I'm a little surprised an LS-swap hack job hasn't showed up by now.
Hopefully it looks better than their rear bumper does mounted o_O
