I put a container of damprid in my trunk and left the car alone in the driveway for a few days with the windows up... the smell seemed to go away from what i can tell (the cooler temps in the northeast help too).

the brackets have a little play in them so you can move them front to back and side to side... should be micro-adjustments. fwiw, i have the jtop as well and mine does not whistle, so i'm hopeful you'll be able to adjust and get it squared away.

why bother replacing the amp? you're doing the speakers for the 4 channels... just leverage the B&O amp and save yourself the expense and hassle? your choice of course, but i find the stock amp with the B&O to power the speakers well and the kicker key 500.1 for the sub is more than adequate.

I get slices on my fingers every time i take the top panels off. The edges are just razor sharp. Best bet is a pair of cheap gloves.
