Only thing I would note would be the base engine for the Bronco. Do we know it will be the 2.7 V6 or the 2.3L 4cyl? For the Wrangler the 3.6L is the base motor. One would assume the 2.3L will be the Bronco? Not sure if this has been confirmed but that would still give the Bronco a slight...
If it were your Billions of dollars that you are spending on development of a new vehicle for a specific market segment you may have a different view. This segment has been owed by the Jeep Wrangler. The Bronco is not a Jeep but will have given features that will be similar to the Jeep. A huge...
Remember Ford does not want to cannibalize Raptor sales but to steel sales from Jeep and the Wrangler. Two different markets. With that said I would not be surprised if Ford doesn't offer something drawing from the bronco's desert race heritage in the future. Just my opinion.
Some examples from the 60's - 70's... Not Off-Road related. It was an easy way to attach. In a vacuum formed mold the pocket allowed a flat mounting surface without undercuts.
Correct. Pocket flares had been around in one form or another for many years (outside the offroad market). Bushwhacker was the first to apply them to the Jeep and then to Trucks. The Design has been utilized by a number if companies after the design patent ran out.
Yes, pocket flares are rumored to be offered. Personally feel the pocket design has run its course but the Bronco is new so I guess they will continue to be used.
some aftermarket companies have been contracted by Ford to produce optional flares (accessories) at launch. Like FCA and Jeep they are trying to capture a large part of the accessories business from the start. SEAM this year will be Ford only in regards to showing the Bronco. Come SEMA 2021 that...
I would expect the load rating to be modest. I know of discussion related to rack options an load capabilities. Remember that a lot of liability lawyers will have their say. Patents do not always make it onto production. They may be implemented at later dates or on different vehicles all...
turned 51 yesterday and have been playing with off-road vehicles for about 30 of those. Currently own 2020 Rubicon Gladiator but please don't judge. I'll be playing with the Bronco's for sure. I'm a Senior Product Designer.
Like everything I hope all blows over in the next two weeks (three weeks tops). Lets all do our part to lower the curve and just move on. Hell I have my seasonal allergies and out of respect am just staying at home. I am lucky because I do work from home at this time. Feel for all that are...
Jeep and FCA have had rumors for a long time now regarding a new I6 (Tornado) that is to be used in the Jeep brand. This includes the Wrangler (JL / JT). The numbers have it putting out 360hp in base form and 525HP for the top option. Ford could respond sooner or even beat them in the HP/Torque...
Understand but I don't think we will see it honestly. Very well could be wrong. There actually is an existing patent for this function already. I think Ford may have gotten around it by how they actually move the mirror. Getting around existing patents is a tricky and interesting process.
Having worked with a lot of Jeeps and the use of relocation brackets the position of the mirror will allow enough clearance for the doors to open fully. What will be interesting is how Ford solves the passenger side mirror visibility when viewed from the drivers seat. This is honestly the...
Hot Stuff is very cool. If I was old enough back then I would have taken that. So would you say a little of the Hot Stuff made it into the CJ-8 Scrambler? ?
Honestly do not recall ever seeing a Hot Stuff but it predates the Scrambler I assume.
