I had factory plastic bumpers which weigh, essentially nothing, went to RC tubular rear and Blackhorse tubular front which are probably near 100 pounds each, plus a winch up front and recovery gear/tools in back so 175 additional each end. I have Bilstein 5100s on Hitachi springs. I notice no...
Steering does not lock on Bronco. And since the transmission is left in neutral, the wheels will roll also. In my Wrangler i had to turn the key to 'Unlock Position' and put the transmission in 'Park' . If something was done incorrectly it showed up pretty fast, not so with the Bronco...
I like the looks of these. I have first gen Mabett aluminum steps which I guess they don't make anymore, no rust and stout.
I really don't get the hate on the factory rails. First 99 percent of folks will never bounce them off a rock and if you do i bet they hold up fine. I do up class six...
I live rural, I used to have intermittent problems, mice on wires, squirrels liked vacuum lines. Here are my solutions, after spending $8K I would think your wife would be on board.
Mice: I keep a trap under the hood of my seldom used motorhome. Poison in the garage. Never had one in the...
And since you have the 4.46 gears, you can economically upgrade to the M210 front locker, which is available in that ratio.
Interesting about Hitachis being stiffer than factory Bilsteins. I have 5100s and have a winch, aftermarket bumpers and a good amount of tools/recovery gear and have...
I hadn't really noticed the soft shifts in Normal but I am becoming a bigger fan of Sport mode. On a curvy mountain road with even a gentle grade Normal is just dead as you decelerate/ accelerate in and out of curves. At least in Sport the Bronco feels like it's still alive. Steep downgrades...
I have a 2.3 with vacuum brakes, but I wonder if this is an issue now with 2.3s with the new electric brake boost? I've been talking to a friend about him getting a Bronco (or a Ranger) and wonder if this is 'one more thing' he needs to consider.
I'd say get the non LED harness, since that's the way your Bronco is wired. I do not think there is a difference in the Curt harness from a current draw standpoint. The wires are in different positions however.
I was an early adopter of the Curt harness. Apparently their prototype had LED...
Idk what Schrodigers cat is, but maybe this? If you leave it out of the rotation now, you may be done with 5 tire rotations forever, or at some point you'll have to throw away an unused tire. If you're staying with the same size you could dedicate it as a spare as long as you feel good about...
My son runs At3 s I run Rubitreks and love them. Looking at photos of the At4s the tread looks very little different. Don't know comparable weights, but Falkans are great. And, to a point, weight = strength and strength = good
Thinking back over 50 years of this stuff and what I've used the most and to most benefit, in order of usefulness:
1. A brain to determine when discretion is the better part of valor and to determine a course of action. (profile pic shows lack of this item, Pritchet Canyon in a Bronco II...
Whenever I get around my Bronco or Explorer with keys in my pocket (and oddly the Explorer with the Bronco fob) there is all kinds of clicking and clicking. It seems all kinds of stuff activates by your mere presence so it would be hard to isolate.
So did the first couple minutes addressing UCA horizontal angle explain the Bronco brake dive? Just looking the Bronco is fairly horizontal, which he says might lead to brake dive. Advantage is castor is less affected by lift.
OEM plates work well, are not too thick so not heavy. I use an ASFIR transmission plate, it is aluminum and ships from Israel so that may make shipping easier or harder. They have a full array of plates
I'm old grouchy and potentially stinky and no one checks mine out anymore either.
But @EvilJim1971 is feigning modesty, his Bronco shouts 'Come Look at Me' and deservedly so.
