agreed I would try to buff that out, its one of the few instances where "that will buff out" applies.

You chose to purchase somewhere that has no buyer protection, and that was a choice.
Also, that is a perfectly fine response IMO, they could have left you hanging for a month but they chose to be transparent with you.

Just to pile on, I've run circuit breakers in line with a winch and they will over heat and "pop" at the worst times.
A starter solenoid like the one pictured is 100% the way to go. Make sure you protect the lugs with a terminal cover and a nice coat of grease so they wont get wet.
100% this, I just used these to mount fuel wheels on my OBX with 33's.
No issues what so ever.

She had a 4Runner, wants a 25 when they release the new generation so we decided to sell and get top dollar.
The bronco is a filler until the next gen runner is released.
FWIW, she gets what ever she wants to drive and I keep her in something with a warranty for peace of mind.
