My car should be finished by tomorrow. AlphaCars told me they are preparing "after" pics and video so people can get a better understanding of the extent of what they do and how they apply different products to different places. They've been excellent to work with.
I realize that the initial...
Wow - this is big news! I had my money on you to win this thing. Congrats and may your shipping go smoothly. It feels like the death star was just destroyed and the rest of the movie doesn't matter anymore.
Waiting until it arrives at the dealership sounds like the worst possible strategy. If you wait until then - you have no leverage, and no time to manage it if there is a problem. You'll have 20 minutes to decide if you want it and if you waffle, they'll gladly sell it to someone else with ADM...
That's exactly where I thought that pic was taken from! I was body surfing with my kids right there a couple years ago (brother in law has house and similar boat in Chatham) and half of a seal was bobbing between me and my kids. We stopped. It's not even safe on the inland side.
I'll let you know the cost later. But there are DIY products that could save you a lot, and there are probably cheaper shops (this place deals with a lot of exotic/luxury cars), but I wanted to find someone I felt I could trust and would not cut corners (not a snakeoil salesman). But this is...
Yeah agreed the drive shaft could probably rust for 20 years and not have a problem - I'm far less concerned about that. I'm more concerned about frame, hardware (nuts/bolts/washers), rocker panels, suspension/brake assemblies.
They will prepare after videos for me and I will post on Monday or...
Yes they are going to have follow up videos and pics that I will post on Monday. They are cleaning/prepping, then sanding the rusted parts, adding rust converter to those components, using Hardwax on the underbody, painting the axle shafts and drive shafts, then spraying Waxoil into the frame...
This is my daily driver so I don't have that luxury. But it makes me sick every time I'm driving on piles of white crumbly salt chunks that I can here getting blasted all over the undercarraige.
1 mil is one thousandth of an inch (0.001). It's basically nothing. The body panels have as much as 9mil. The frame should have as much. I realize that this doesn't matter in Arizona.

Keep in mind you are talking to someone who’s 4Runner with only 140k miles was just hauled away for parts because the frame was so rotted that the trailing arm broke off the frame and could not be fixed.
Yikes. So for anyone who lives where rust is a thing, you will want to watch this video. I have taken my Wildtrack to a very high end restoration shop to see about rust treatment suggestions after noticing significant rust with less than 300 miles on the odometer. I'm pretty confident that...
I have mine at AlfaCars (in MA) getting the hard wax based rust proofing. They said that with only 200 miles on it they were very surprised how much rust already exists on hardware, drive shaft, steering assembly etc., that should be sanded, treated, and coated. They also said there are a lot of...
My built to delivery time was 8 days.
BTW - people on this forum should know (by now) that saying "It's worth the wait." is about most irritating thing someone could say to anyone who is has been waiting for over 18 months - and is still waiting with no information about when it will end...
