Just wanted to post a pic on how I am carrying my kayak wothout the hardtop, rails or softtop. I tested and it is very stable. Tied to the front and back hooks and the Rear rollbar and windshield frame hardtop mounts.

I made a nut holder. This is the perfect spot to snack while driving.

which straps in front ? There should be a hook with a strap that has two bronze grommets in it. That gets bolted with the frame and makes a hook that holds down the front frame when pushed back.

you mean it got unbuttoned from the frame ? Make sure they are attached firmly. I have not had that issue, at speed and in heavy wind.

I would add another set of straps and loop around the bottom of the top and attach them to the same eye bolts. You are currently putting a lot of weight on 4 very small sections of the top, stressing those points. Another strap can relieve that weight and also act as a safety.

Is yours the more expensive one, the Deluxe ? That one looks like it is over the sides and you cannot use a tonneau - correct ?

Does the tonneau cover still work, or is it higher than the sides of the truck ? I just ordered but want to be able to place the tonneau on top as well.

The rivnut fit seems fine. I never used a rivnut tool and I like it. I was thinking how do you remove a rivnut ? I guess just grind down the flange and it falls in ? If you ever have to, just replace with another rivnut. If you look at the Ford ones that are in the roll at, they are also...

The top material is good in my opinion, it is thick and I think twill ? - I am not familiar with the other top materials you mention. I am definitely happy with the quality of it. My planned only use is for between April - October - after that, it is hardtop season.
