It's a good move but I can't be the only one just a bit annoyed that it took a serious competitive threat to get them off their butts to finally address a flaw that many have wanted addressed for years.
Any of those trails can be done in a stock Bronco. We just did Imogene, Black Bear, Alpine Loop (Engineer and Cinnamon), and Poughkeepsie. The only difficult technical parts were on Poughkeepsie. And you can bypass those if you want. We made it up the wall with no lockers. It can be done. There...
Great pic! The Bronco looks great. It desperately needs a lift though.
The challenge for Jeep is to modernize but keep the same basic style. Think Porsche 911. Same basic shape for a long, long time now.
Get the lockers. More expensive to add later if you decide to and you may decide to. Trails are fun! If you get a taste of it you're going to want to do more of them.
You can get a lot of places without lockers but they can make it a lot less risky when you don't have to be as heavy on the gas...
Unfortunately true. I feel sorry for anyone not on B6G. The local dealer won't mind losing one or two informed purchasers as long as they can take advantage of 100 others.
One lie after another. Told me I would need to cancel my current reservation if I want to switch dealers. Even went so far as to claim that my reservation had been lost. Won't give me pricing. $895 dealer fee that is the "average in Florida". Etc, etc, etc.
Next call was to Ford marketing...
We'll report back on how it tows behind our Wrangler. Definitely at the limits but it should be fine. Just have to take your time and slow it down a bit.
If you do look at them make sure you're looking at the 2021 models. They reduced the hitch weight considerably in 2021 by moving the axle...
No worries. I've towed the same weight with my Wrangler. This will stay within the tow limits when packed carefully. Anti sway hitch. Weight distribution if the Bronco can handle it.
The Wrangler made it over Millionaire's Highway with 3500 lbs behind it. With 3.21 gears and a five speed auto...
My Jeep doors are off 95% of the time. There is almost always a bikini top or hard top on it. I really don't care about getting a little wet if it rains. I would wheel with my doors off on most trails if the weather looked like it was going to be somewhat decent, was not a very buggy place, and...
Liability is your biggest issue. I won't tow over weight for that reason alone.
As far as towing capacity you may be fine if you do it correctly. In Europe they do a 4 - 7% hitch weight (as opposed to the US standard of 10 - 15%), have greatly increased tow ratings, but have very strict speed...
