As @Ducati1098 mentioned, side-loading the HVAC is quick and easy with FORScan if you can source the files. This used to be very easy to do, but with Ford's new cybersecurity measures where FDRS accounts get banned for running a VIN through it without being plugged into the vehicle, it has...
If your Fordpass is connected, message me the VIN. There may be codes it is reporting that provide a clue to the problem. These things are not easy to diagnose remotely, but sometimes, the codes can be obvious in terms of what the problem is.
It's not that simple with Sync 4 vehicles. Even if it is the same p/n, if the APIM you swap in has different firmware than the one you are replacing, it will cause back-end server issues and break the OTA/FDRS update process on said vehicle. You can DIY an APIM swap, but you will need to PMI it...
Try disconnecting the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes. This will force a hard reset of all the modules including the GWM. It may not fix it, but it won't hurt anything to try.
FWIW: I called a former colleague of mine in the parts department of a Ford store I used to work at. He said a few things about the buyer losing the core charge and small profit margins on the IPC and blah blah blah. His biggest concern is mileage discrepancies between the VIN being used to...
I can tell you that the servers OTA's work on and the FDRS servers are different. Also, auto-updates is only to install the update if it requires the vehicle to be inhibited after the files are downloaded. By the time auto-updates installs (or tries to install) the update, the files are already...
You would think so since in theory, there would be less bandwidth being used during off-peak hours, but I would keep my expectations low as far as that making a big difference.
Also, Ford recently changed the way they provide FDRS access and it now costs $120 for 2 day access instead of $50, so...
APIM updates can be up to 6GB. It's taken me an hour or more just to download the files needed for the USB update using FDRS. Regardless of your internet speed, downloading stuff from Ford's servers is painfully slow.
It depends on how far behind the vehicle is when you start updating the relevant modules.
The problem is, you can only update as far as what Ford has released for the vehicle. Many people have taken their vehicles in to get it done, and the dealer updates as much as they can, but never get the...
Since Ford started sending updates OTA 4-5 years ago, very few updates have been sent to any vehicle that requires wifi. In the case of the Broncos, I believe it was only one OTA that required wifi, and that was TCU update 23-PU113-UNX-DC which was only sent to 21-23 model years to fix a config...
Awesome! If it only took a few minutes, chances are all he did was reauthorize the TRON encryption with FDRS which takes minutes to do. Unfortunately, when TRON breaks, it cannot be fixed with FORScan.
Message me the VIN and I'll check to see if I see anything helpful, but if Fordpass is completely dead, I won't be able to see any codes it is reporting. If you have FORScan or a code reader, you can check to see if it is reporting and codes in the TCU or GWM. It could just be coverage issue...
Settings > General > About Sync. In there, you will see a Sync version that consists of 5 numbers starting with a 2. Based on what you show there, you can gauge to see where you are.
To see all modules with pending updates, you will need someone with FDRS or full PTS access to check. My FDRS...
If you go by, find out if they plan on making one for the 21-24 Bronco Sport, too. They're about 20 minutes away from me, but I rarely go in that area; especially during working hours.
