Dammit. I put my order in on 3/22 (reservation 3/21)... I didn't know about the 3/19 thing at the time. So a bit of bad luck on when I decided to get a Bronco. I'm not in as much of a hurry as many of you, but I really, really don't want to see the price go up. The only way I'll really be able...
I've never had bikes myself, but a good buddy of mine rides a 1299 and a Streetfighter. That 1299 is one of the most beautiful things on wheels I have ever seen. He rides it, and rides it like a lunatic, but you'd never guess by how clean he keeps it. Clay bars the hell out of it.
Enzo Ferrari supposedly once said that Jeeps are the only true American sports car... When you talk about the competition making them better, I hope it is towards off road performance and quality/durability. Before crossovers really took over, Wranglers were often being compared to that type of...
You know what feature is not overrated? Trail Turn Assist. Up here in the mountain trails, I am Austin Powers-ing even my two door constantly. I'll be using the crap out of that feature. Shame it isn't on the manual though. As a future former stick driver myself, I say you deserve better.
Sure the IFS will help soften the ride anyway, But I'm sure the disconnect will still take it to another level on the extra annoying type of terrain. Plus, it still helps stabilize in off-camber blah blah blah... you know what I mean. I still don't mind having the extra frosting on my cake...
I grew up in Yuma, which is even sunnier and hotter than Tucson. I'd actually put the soft top on in the winter since I was more acclimated to the heat. Definitely required a bikini top though in the summer... I'm a redhead and the sun makes us pay. I still make sure my jeeps have a bikini top...
I have a ratchet strap setup in my garage. Four eye bolts screwed into ceiling trusses with the straps hanging down from them. It's an easy one person job when you do that, and cheap.
I grew up with a CJ-5 and drove it in highschool. I loved it. I have had to have a vehicle I could take the top and doors off since. It's weird because I have driven without doors on a lot, and lately posts have me thinking it's illegal or something. Never been pulled over for it. The screen...
Honestly...... If something financially bad happens to me between now and when I get my Bronco, I may actually consider trading in my 2 door Recon for a Bronco Sport instead. The weird reason I am trading my Recon in anyway is because we just had a baby and we'd like mom to be able to drive both...
The 2 door still has a decent wheel base. I'm actually someone who appreciates a very short wheelbase as I grew up with a CJ-5 and got comfortable wheeling a compact vehicle -BUT the 2 door Bronco is still quite a bit longer than a 2 door JK wheelbase and is much closer to the "coveted" LJ...
Even if you are overlanding -if you end up getting it, I bet you'll use it. Not because you'll need it, but more because you'll want to use it. Really helps soften up the ride on the rough stuff and again... helps stabilize the vehicle in off camber situations. Then again, that might not be...
I have used sway bar disconnect for rock crawling, but I tend to use it more often on heavily rutted roads -and I use it even when I don't need it for climbing. It makes everything much smoother sailing and helps stabilize the vehicle on off-camber obstacles. Even though I haven't seen examples...
I'll be getting around the same gas mileage. About a mpg better vs driving the lifted 4 door JKU and about a mpg worse than driving the 2 door JK. It also depends on which one of us are driving it. My wife actually has much more of a lead foot than I do -and somehow I get all the tickets.
I drove a Jeep Renegade with the 1.4 turbo for a couple of years. It was stated that the engine preferred premium fuel, but you could use regular. The time I could notice a difference is when the turbo kicked in. It felt smoother and like it was giving me extra boost. I ran it with regular...
