  1. Before & After (stock 2dr Base vs. 3.5” lift + 37’s). What a difference!

I’ll take the base unmodified over the almost-certain drivetrain/suspension/steering system failures on the wannabe monster truck.
  2. Rough Country High Mount with sensor mod to fit Apex Badland Winch

I have a base bronco. Would any modifications be required to fit the badland 12,000 lb winch to the rough country high mount given the fact that I don’t have any sensors to deal with?
  3. Are steelies realistic, long term?

265/75r16. A little smaller and considerably lighter than my current tires, which will hopefully mean a smoother ride and less wear and tear on drivetrain during the winter months when I honestly won’t be doing as much non-pavement driving. In most pictures I’ve seen, the Base looks pretty good...
  4. New Ford Blue Oval Logo Ditches Chrome

Chrome or white, the problematic part of the logo remains: Henry Ford’s last name. Love that the Bronco uses it minimally.
  5. Are steelies realistic, long term?

Picked up the refinished wheels (with mounted Toyo Open Country ATIII) today. They look great. Seams are well-coated and no apparent gaps. Shout out to Eduardo at Wheel Works Detroit. I’ll go the extra step of coating the seams with CRC Corrosion Inhibitor, and then this set will be ready for...
  6. Why don’t you use sport mode on road?

Agree. The reduced lag is what I see as the most beneficial aspect of running sport mode.
  7. Why don’t you use sport mode on road?

I put heavy 33ā€ tires on a base non-Sas with the2.3L and 10 speed auto. When cruising at freeway speeds (70ish MPH), the bronco hunts for gears a lot less if it’s in Sport mode. Given my spec, nothing engages when I switch to Sport mode. Just turns off Auto start/stop and makes the shift points...
  8. The 2023 Shadow Black Base Experience

New flaps. More pics when the slop starts in a month or so…
  9. On my overconfidence (got stuck in mud) at Hubbard Mesa Open Space, CO

They’re definitely not measuring from the rear lower control arm mounts. I’m not trying to talk bad about the 6G. I’ve had my non-Sas base on 33ā€ M/Ts in places I couldn’t have imagined getting out of with my old Jeep Wrangler SE.
  10. On my overconfidence (got stuck in mud) at Hubbard Mesa Open Space, CO

It’s not a fair assessment, because there are always a number of factors in a situation like this that can’t be accounted for entirely. But objectively, since we’re talking about getting high centered in muddy ruts, the Jeep JL Sport has higher clearance and a limited slip. Clearance in these...
  11. Bro-flaps installed

Here are a couple side views for comparison with my ā€œbeforeā€ pic above.
  12. Rust prevention in winter climates

I had my ā€˜97 Jeep Wrangler undercoated by a place in Midland, MI called Henderson Brothers Rustproofing. When I took it in, there was zero surface rust on the undercarriage and after two Michigan winters it looked like it did the day I took it there. Still had the grease pencil markings from the...
  13. Bro-flaps installed

Ok! Received and installed my Non-Sas Bro Flaps! Super fast shipping (ordered Friday, arrived Monday) from Portland, OR to Detroit, MI. As I said in my previous post, customer service through their Etsy shop was truly great. Part of this high level of service was a direct message with links to...
  14. Are steelies realistic, long term?

I’m considering it. But having a shadow black bronco, I’m not sure many colors other than black or silver/gray make sense. I have thought about a camel or olive color and black lugs.
  15. Are steelies realistic, long term?

Ha. Yeah. Mentioned this issue in my build thread a few weeks ago. Now that summer is coming to an end up here, it’s time to brace for rust season. Really appreciate the insights on what constitutes a quality/lasting refinish. Picked up a fairly clean set with TPMS for $100 today and dropped...
  16. Bro-flaps installed

Just ordered a set today for my base non-Sas two door. Front and rear. Seems like there are a lot of pricey flaps out there that will flex but have some fairly complex hardware. And, then there are affordable rigid flaps that seem likely to crack or tear off the fender flares or both. Hoping...
  17. Are steelies realistic, long term?

Hey all! I’ll jump right to it… for those of you who are steelies diehards, any signs of how difficult these are gonna be to maintain? Literally from day one - when my dealer swapped the stock Duellers for 33ā€ Wildpeaks - I had scratches down to bare metal in several places. The dealer did...
  18. Can anyone help me with this coldstart sound on 2.3L

The sound of these engines running cold for the first couple minutes it’s unsettling. For sure.
