  1. Pinion Angle How to Calculate for Dummies

Interesting thread. 6100s have very similar extended lengths to oem coilovers. So they will not produce significant angular geometry differences than oem. Both in front (CV axles) or rear (drive shaft CV). If Maintaining oem coilover mounting hard points, It is the coilover extended length...
  2. M210 Case Bolt Torque Specs

What diameter is the bolt shank?
  3. Icon Stage 4 on 37s | Severe Duty Rack | Daily / Trail Setup

Some math for the nerds. Basic trigonometry defines the lateral wheel motion assuming perfectly rigid bushings. Plot shows the OEM configuration with a perfectly level Panhard, and a 3” lift to OEM without leveling Panhard. Panhard length is 44”. Notice a level Panhard provides a symmetric...
  4. Icon Stage 4 on 37s | Severe Duty Rack | Daily / Trail Setup

With a solid axle 5 link Panhard setup, the lateral motion of the axle (and hence wheels) is constrained by the Panhard arc motion. No travel is gained by panhard/axle relocation bracket, just a more neutral arc motion of Panhard that will provide less axle lateral motion near full rebound.
  5. Eibach springs hoss 3.0

No. You won’t be changing the extended length of the coilovers.
  6. New Camburg Trail Series Long Travel Lower Arms

Absolutely agree. Just a comment on current state of spiraling costs
  7. New Camburg Trail Series Long Travel Lower Arms

Cost is based on demand not quality. Sometimes they are aligned, sometimes they are not. You get what you pay for is silly. People were buying broncbuster tierod braces (with a square cross section 🤣) for >$300. I am sure these are high quality and no disrespect intended towards the...
  8. Coilovers - changing springs to effect ride height.

Yeah the front/rear balance is kinda off with 400/250 combo. 400/200 should be much better. The 500/200 combo seems ideal and it is pretty easy to adjust preload and get ride height near shock mid stroke. Also keep cg down a bit. Not ideal for 37s tho. Great for 35s. It seems that you are...
  9. Camburg Kinetik Series Billet UCA with X-Joint XL ball joints

Whatever dude.. my door handles have some flair… I am a bit color blind tho. my wife insists they are all a different shade of blue.. 🤦‍♂️
  10. Ride Shocks - a long-term review. (video linked at end)

Getting spring rate correct for your vehicle weight can’t be understated.
  11. Coilovers - changing springs to effect ride height.

Eibach 3”x16” 400 lbs/in spring has 9.4” of available travel. Shocks have 5.5” stroke. Assuming 0.5” of hard bump stop at jounce end then conservatively, 9.4 - 5 =4.4 inches of preload max. Call it 4” to be safe. Carrying 1500 lbs on corner in front (stockish) that is 1500*1.6=2,400 lbs to...
  12. Ride Shocks - a long-term review. (video linked at end)

Good read. I for one appreciate this detailed post and the time it takes to write this. I don’t even bother with threads that just have video. Don’t even open them. Thanks for your thoughts.
  13. Front Wheel Bearing Upgrade Options?

@illverado EDIT. Correction to be more concise. Under static loads. As far as the ball joints are concerned, their reaction forces are dictated by the scrub radius moment arm and they don’t care where the wheel bearing is located. Wheel/knuckle acts as a rigid body. As far as the wheel...
  14. Front Wheel Bearing Upgrade Options?

Of course. My comments were not about your post but more general. Your analysis of the bearing moments is accurate just not complete. The applied moments are the force (normal force acting on tire contact patch centroid) times a moment arm. The full moment arm distance needs to include the...
  15. Front Wheel Bearing Upgrade Options?

I doubt this. Wheel offset and scrub radius dictate the bending moments applied to the wheel bearings so that is really the main point. Curious if @Ducati1098 has seen many wheel bearing failures on stock wheels.
  16. Front Wheel Bearing Upgrade Options?

Lots of strange and conflicting information in this thread. 9” wide wheels have a center line at 4.5” from edge. So 5” backspacing has a positive 12.7 mm offset (1/2”). That is not super aggressive. Not even negative. The pic does seem to show a negative offset but hard to tell. No idea where...
  17. PORTALS! Realities and Tradeoffs

Even more so with the significant motion ratio you have put on your trailing arms.
  18. Isnt 139.7mm same as 5.5"?

    25.4 mm/inch
  19. PORTALS! Realities and Tradeoffs

Just to be crystal clear. I am NOT anti portal. We all know suspension lifts have advantages allowing bigger tires and more clearance. We all also know they can’t be extrapolated or unbounded without issues. As lift increases there are diminishing returns. Nothing is free. A portal lift is no...
  20. Bilstein 8112 UCA's needed?

You will not need new UCAs if only doing a 1” suspension lift. You should not have any issues with alignment.
