Did he work for Ford Motor Company or for a Ford dealer? If it was a dealer I don't believe there is a retiree plan. Z plan is for retired FoMoCo employees.

A plan is for Ford employees, D plan is for dealership employees and Z plan is for ford retirees. Family is eligible as well.
