Are the M&R "yellow lights" a backlight rather than an actual light? So you want to have them turn on with the DRLs (the outer LED ring of the headlight that's always on)?
I wired both lights into the wire that I ran off the supplied wire (same as the guy in the video). I believe I grounded it out on an existing ground that was in the trunk area, you don’t need to run it up to the hood.
I'd say that he should take the larger of all of our measurements and should come out alright. The lower grill is definitely taller than 3" on the very ends in front of the quarter panels. The rest of ours are pretty darn consistent. 🍻

Not OP, but I used a Jeep aftermarket lighting strip off Amazon, works very well as it hardwired into the 12V cigarette adapter in the trunk.
