In the ranger, which is lighter and less heavy duty, the 2.3 gets 18-21 MPG.

I'm not ready to list the 2.7 cost as a con yet. It will be more expensive of course, but if its a $3K upgrade on a a $35K rig, that's only 8%. Annual fuel and insurance cost will also be pretty close. I'm predicting "bang for your buck" might tip toward the 2.7.

I'll be looking for a rooftop tent for the 2 door. Preferably something that goes straight up, as sleeping in rest stops during road trips is pretty common for me. I don't want to have to fold out into another spot.

And the 2.3? I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's also a pretty standard condition of the modern vehicle. I had a 69 Chrysler with a 440 and you could fit a family of 5 under the hood with it.

"Twice as many turbos" is a dramatic way of saying "1 more turbo." I have not seen how much room each engine takes up, but I bet neither will be easy to get a wrench around in. I'm not ready to put "more/less could go wrong" to the pros and cons. The 2.7 has more data to go on in the truck...

Durability won't really be known for years, but the noted aluminum vs. CGI block is a nod in that direction.....

Looking back at the first few pages of this thread and there should be a lot of non-buyers. The manual is only optioned with the odd choice of a 2.3. - Yes it has plenty of power, but what is the upside? MPG? (No.) Cheaper purchase price? (Probably only 2-3% cheaper, so again no.) The colors...

What is the MGP you get under "normal" driving conditions? I see on the f 150 it gets 17-20....

Are you saving money with the 2.3 over the 2.7? The upgrade is only going to be 2-3% of the purchase price....

Then the answer might be not to use the 2.7 as the upgrade. Go with the 3.5... Something that is actually different than the 2.3. The 2.3 and 2.7 are very close together across the board. Neither is the "wrong" engine for the Bronco, but together as the only two options one can't really...

I'd 100 percent be interested in a bare bones bronco. Manual windows, no LCD screens, minimal electronics as possible. Similar to the 2000 SVT Cobra R. I would add AC though.
