These tops look to be an imitation of commercial aircraft interior crush-core panels, which are VERY hard to keep within quality specs consistently.
This design, especially around the edges, looks like the panel buildup and...

I too have about a 3/4 inch gap, and used that gap to help me get my fingers in there to add some tape to the wire bundles, and along the edge of the bumper cap, that wear through in a while causing odd electrical shorts :sadface:

I usually stay in 2H with rain. Perhaps a bit of slip from a stop sign on uphill turn, but ... I just drive it. Any advanced skills required for staying in 2H? I don't feel that skilled.... hahha 🥴
